When they replaced my generator they were able to take it out of the boat with the crane without taking the actual boat out of the water. I had it done at the Boat Yard in Marina Del Rey. They had already maneuvered the generator out of the engine compartment and onto the deck with some special plywood underneath and so by the time I drove the boat over to the boat Yard they just had to carefully lift it out with a crane. Obviously your engine will be bigger than that… But if they remove certain things from the engine such as the risers and exhaust manifold they will there will be less to remove when it comes time to take the engine block out itself.
