Mercury or Quicksilver 25W-40 (traditional oil) and Mercury or Quicksilver Filter: 35-866340Q03.
Both are relatively inexpensive and widely available (including Walmart).

The Mercury and Quicksilver are the same item just packaging and targeted at different markets (Mercury = repair/shop/dealer and Quicksilver = Retail)

Mercury Quicksilver oil 25w40 dino oil.
Mercury Quicksilver fuel filter
NAPA or AC Delco Oil filters - I have a block mounted oil filter, so the standard remote oil filter for Mercury/Quicksilver does not fit.

OEM. From Walmart or Marina

Merc stuff is safe and a good product. Other brands can be at least as good. Just don't use Fram - we hear stories about this, but I have PERSONALLY seen two Frams with the interior pleats separated - no filtering happening there! "Friends don't let friends use Fram" :)

Bill... if you wanted to, there is V6 specific Merc oil filter for screwing directly to the block (typically with carb'd engines). The "remote" filter, interestingly enough, does work with carb'd 4cyl and V8's, though.

Yeah, occasionally I see those in WM, only thing is I like the long filters and the Quicksilver ones are short - at least I have never seen a long one.

If you're talking about "long" meaning longer than normal... no, the Merc/QS V6 filter are just the normal length filter. To be honest, I don't think it matters - given how quickly a boat filter is changed (VERY few hours on an oil change rotation vs automotive), the filter could probably be half that size and still be plenty adequate! But, either way, all is good.

Yeah, talking about the longer than normal ones - but your right probably does not make a difference. Lately I have been using the AC Delco filters since they are right there at WM next to the oil.

For my old gas boat and my kids Bowrider, OEM or WIX filters and Mercruisers 25w40 oil.
For the Caterpillars in my current boat I use 30 W Rotella and Caterpillar filters.
