Hello! I am new to the forum and so excited to be a part of this boating and SeaRay community. I have purchased my first SeaRay 310 Sundancer, 2012. It's currently located in Woodbridge, VA and I am in Tacoma, WA.

1) Anyone know of a good marine transporter? Current quotes are very high, and shared they would need to take the arch off and won't launch in sea water. Do you all find this to be common? I would love any advise as I'm so far away.

2) The boat currently comes with a slant back, and I'm really looking for a fully enclosed camper canvas. Anyone know of a good place to get canvas or even buy used?

Thank you all!

Welcome to CSR and congrats on your new Sea Ray.

You're going to need to find a boat yard in the south Sound area that can lift the boat off the trailer with a Travellift and launch it.

You're also going to need to find a yard that can put the arch back on and recommission the boat to get it ready to use.

If you're lucky the yard you find will be able to do both. This is also a good time to add any additional equipment you want, such as a bow thruster, etc.

Good luck with the transport. Take lots of photos so we can all enjoy them.

Thank you for the response and I love your photo! I am so excited to get going and will certainly post lots of photos. That's great advice on the technology, I can already tell all the gadgets are going to get me in trouble, so many cool things.

I did not have to remove the arch on my 2003 410...I did have to remove radar and antennas/mast.

That's good to know. Interestingly enough, I just received a quote that stated they would not have to remove arch and could also launch from the trailer into salt water. Seems odd with so many conflicting quotes out there. VA to WA is a long way, so I appreciated your insight and your experience as well.

AJ - I did not shrink wrap mine, and she went through the back side of Sandy with all the snow and road debris...she was nasty when I got her to Chattanooga from Bayville, NJ. So I recommend bite the bullet and pay to shrink wrap as well - esp as far as you are moving...

I didn't shrink wrap mine but that was not my choice. The "wrappers" didn't show up on the day they were supposed to, they came a day late and the trucker was not going to lose a day just because they screwed up.

The boat arrived with a bit of road dust/grime on it but nothing that a wash job didn't fix.

Transport recommendation, C&J transport. If you search this forum you will find others.

Obviously the need to remove the arch depends on height clearance on your specific route and the height of the trailer the shipper uses.

Regarding shrink wrapping for transport, C&J told me not to do it, because if it tears it will damage the fiberglass. I didnt wrap mine, and it was dirty but not outrageous after a 1400.mile trip in the spring. Your transporter may have a different opinion. Plenty of people wrap and transport with no problem.

Thank you. I’ve been asking around and that seems to be the consensus. Wrapping a boat this distance is not easy to keep on for the duration of the trip. They’ve also shared when the wrap is loose it can act as sandpaper on the fiberglass, as you stated and damage the fiberglass. I’m going for no wrap. 2,880 miles and a good wash later I’m hoping will be ok.
