I must caution you that you will find 250 watts really lacking in ability to help much with any hilly terrain a minimum I would reccomend is 500 watts I would ask if the manufacture can supply that I'm sure they can

We have a pair of Dahon Mariners, 4 years old. Been great bikes for commuting around and hauling supplies. for a 20 inch tire, they ride ok. Would not go off road with them!

I have been looking at the electric scooters. Never really considered the before but earlier this year we were down in Dallas an used the uber scooters and they were fun to use.

The scooters are heavy and nowhere near as fun as an electric mountain bike ,

very cool looking - still not as compact as the scooter for storing but not much more in price. Can these be used on the sand? They seem to have the fat wheels.

They are the fat tire, while I have zero experience with a 20 inch fat wheel bike I can attest to the fat wheels performance on my 26 inch wheeled bike and its awesome, I can go laterally across hills of sand on mine which is amazing I was nervous about it and was wowed

We have 2 Dahons that we use less than a dozen a year. Added Gel seat covers. Perfect for the short-term light usage they get.

I purchased a folding bike on Amazon 2 years ago and have been very happy with it. The only regret is not getting the storage bag for it. Having the bag would make it a bit easier to have it stowed down below an not have to worry about thoroughly cleaning it off every time we take off. This is the bike we purchased. Although this is for the F2 model and we go there F3, but they seem the same to me. In addition to recommending getting a storage bag, having a belt vs a cane is nice too.

I have also been thinking of getting an e-bike to take on long trips. But haven’t pulled the trigger yet. It’s had to decipher if the $500-$700 options are worthy vs the $1k+ options.

I considered an e-scooter too. As Kevin mentioned they take up so little space and are easily lifted on and off the boat. However I feel like the smaller wheels pose a greater threat as they would fall into the smaller voids of pavement vs a 20” + tire rolling over them. But I haven’t ridden on a scooter in 20 something years, so maybe I’m overthinking it (as I do most things).

    Hope that helps.

The differences with the cheaper e bikes are smaller battery size(A hr capacity) , battery cell quality ( genuine samsung preferred) motor size( 250 w vs 500 or More) component quality ( derailers brakes, shifters wheelbearings, tires ,motor manufacturer ,.) My advice is to buy from a retailer that has north american support and a bricks and mortar store , that commitment level should mean they are invested in the e bike market and not a drop ship company that is passing off bikes with counterfeit substandard parts. I was out on my rad power yesterday in the heatwave rode 18 km with zero sweat pulling 100 lbs of kids and trailer. Added 40 pounds at the groceries store on my way home too

    QSM11's,
cool but it does not fit the criteria of the original question
It is not a folding bike and there’s no way I could have fit 2 of those anywhere but the bow of My boat
