Fuel Sender Alternatives

I have the Maratron TLM's on both the fresh water tank as well as the waste tank for some time now and they are rock solid performers. I did install the focus tube on the fresh water tank one. You would definitely want the focus tube on the fuel tanks to dampen out the effects of sloshing. The instruments themselves are not expensive but getting set up to program and view them gets to be a bit pricey....
For the fuel tanks I have the KUS SS series senders and also had them on my last boat; no problems ever with them. As that data is on the Smartcraft network on my boat I also get the data on the NMEA 2000 system, so all good....
For @Riptide III 's boat which is like my last one (400DA) the KUS worked perfectly with the SR analog gauges.

Do you know if they make a 24” one?
I followed the link I sent you and clicked on the options, and low and behold, 24" at the bottom.

So… Ive decided the route I want to go is Maretron tlm 100. I want to make sure I have all the info before pulling the trigger.
I just got off the phone with Maretron. They do not program the tlm 100. They said I would have to purchase a usb100 gateway to program it.
First question. PC plugs into usb100, usb100 plugs into tlm100, program tank parameters, unplug tlm100 from usb100, then the tlm100 is installed and plugged into backbone, and usb100 goes back in box not to be used again. Then Garmin will read fuel info?

Second question. In addition to viewing fuel info, does the Maretron dsm410 display have the capability to be used to program the tlm100 instead of the usb100.
Thank you for your time. I just want to put another project behind me.

Yes all is correct. The USB-100 is only used for initial programming of the TLM100, but if you add a DSM410, it also allows you to back up everything you’ve programmed into the displays. If you ever have to replace the display, you can restore everything very quickly. Maretron doesn’t have a lot of firmware updates, but if you need to update firmware, the USB100 gets it done.

I think you’ll like the Maretron equipment, and their service has been great.

Thank you. This is the course I will follow. I was hoping the 410 could take the place of the usb100. If that were the case I would buy that also. As it stands now, I think I’ll get the senders and the usb100 and use my Garmin displays. Knowing me I’ll end up adding a dsm410 at the last minute

You don't need the USB100 if you have the DSM410. All of the programming can be done through the DSM100. Conversely, you don't need the DSM100 if you have a USB100 or IPG100. You are definitely better off getting the DSM410 as its other uses are more beneficial.

Edit. Substitute DSM410 for DSM100 in above post#29 correct? I assume typo. I appreciate the help.
