I have a Westerbeke 6.0 that stopped providing electric power. I usually run it when out for the AC's and Frig etc.. Saturday I ran the generator as normal while I was out for about 3 hours. Then Sunday I started it up and when I switched to Generator power and switched the master on the meter barely moved. Didn't get the normal 110v. Switched it off and back on several times with no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Barry

If it's like others there are a few breakers and fuses on the generator itself that needs to be checked.

Find the manual for the make and model you have and there should be a section on trouble shooting.

Could be a number of things but I just replaced the capacitors on my WB after 14 years of service. Ours was a reduced view latte situation. Unless you are really knowledgeable about alternating current, a WB certified tech might be a good choice to have a look at your situation. As an alternative, the WB online manual offers good guidance.

Try starting the generator and then throwing the breaker on the panel for the hot water heater. The current draw from the hot water heater will excite the circuit and the generator should start making power. If this is the case, then the capacitor(s) is bad.

From what I've read, if this trick doesn't work, it's probably the diodes.
