Guys, I have a switch in my stbd cabinets next to the ac panel marked ship/shore and has a knob for gain. Before I rip my boat apart to follow the red and black wires to the glomex amp, does anyone know where this thing is? I am replacing the amp/antenna with a shakespeare digital ota dome... thanks!

Dang I was hoping for a response here. Tomorrow I am headed to the boat to install the Seaview 3019 antenna that I got today. Cocktail if I find out anything that might help during the install (if I finish this) I will post it here. Thanks

The Glomex switch with the gain control is an amp but depending on how many TV's you have there might be a splitter/amp unit somewhere nearby also.

Yes the switch is the amp. The power supply is inside the AC power / breaker panel and plugged into a receptacle inside. There is a coax splitter with the amp.

Well, opened the 12v panel and there it is. The Glomex amp is working fine. To the left of the panel in the cabinet with the switch and gain control is an access panel. The splitter going to the tv's is right there. I swapped out the Glomex for a new digital shakespeare antenna model 3004. I installed the Shakespeare antenna and amp but it pulled in less stations than the Glomex so I hooked it all back up as it was from the factory. I've read a couple posts indicating that Glomex will replace the antenna under warranty if it is faded and discolored, so I think I am going to try that route. Was really hoping to get better reception and I am getting 16 channels that are not very stable. I will try out from under the roof of the dock and see if that helps.

Are your tv's updated? I've noticed it may have more to do with the tuner than the antenna.

I have the same vintage boat, 1998, and upgraded my original Glomex antenna and amp to Glomex Nashira V9112AGC - automatic gain control. The original antenna would pick up about 28 channels, at best, but the signal strength was low and the picture would pixelize often. With the new antenna and amp the TV's receive over 75 channels with great signal strength. It was a great upgrade. The only difference is the new amp is 12V, so a slight wiring change.

Thanks, Kap2 good suggestion. I have all new tv's so the tuner isn't an issue. I ordered a stand alone hd antenna since I have some room in the hole above my fridge. I'm going to see how that works versus the arch mounted glomex. Ran hdmi's all over last week and at least I have directv while at the dock.
