How has the Government shutdown affected you, after 20+ days most of us are touched in some way.
For me, we are selling our business and the buyers are getting a SBA loan, we were weeks away from closing, everything was approved but now everything is on hold because no loan number was assigned yet.
Also worried because we are traveling out of the country in two weeks and hope the delays at TSA don’t mess things up.

    Flew this week, no issues.

Lots of hype out there. Read a news story that our food supply was at risk due to FDA cutting back on inspections.

I believe FDA monitors packaged goods for nutritional content labeling.... Not a real active thing.

USDA handles inpection of meat, vegatables, fruit, and dairy products. They are unaffected by the shutdown.

Congratulations on the sale... Closing's are always tough... And take a ton of time with hiccups along the way....hang in there. Both sides can't keep it going much longer.

As far as flying the government probably had 5X the number of people needed to check your stuff :)

I flew yesterday with no issues but I read that the TSA had funds to pay employees through this week. I am flying the next two weeks so hopefully the budget gets resolved soon.

Ha, Geuss we will just have to get to airport early.
Thanks, So looking forward to a semi retired lifestyle, this past year flew by so fast but the last month seems like it took a year fighting with lawyers and now this shutdown, ugg!
Going to Chicago Boat Show tomorrow, maybe that will take my mind off the sale. :) Maybe a new boat in the future.

Family members have flown in and out of DCA and PHL with zero issues. We have made several weekday trips in to Northern Virginia and Washington DC, and the lack of traffic is awesome. We were unable to go to the Air & Space Museum and National Archives due to shutdown. So instead, we went to the Holocaust Museum. Very educational. We also went to the Iwo Jima and Jefferson Memorials. Both are outdoor venues. They were open. You never would have known that there is a shutdown in progress. Whereas Obama, during the shutdown that occurred on his watch, put barricades around outdoor venues to restrict movement: Vietnam Wall, WWII Memorial, etc. He wanted to inflict pain to prove his point, which was not necessary.

I'd like to hear from people in the credit business: banks, credit cards, etc. Would you actually begin an action against one of your customers that is affected by the government shutdown? We all know that they are going to get ALL of their back pay (for no work, I might add).

Living close to the DC area gives me a unique perspective. I've often said that if ordinary Americans, living in flyover country, came to the 5 counties that surround DC, and look at the wealth there, there would be another revolution.

I empathize with those that are going through this. I really do.

I think I’ll wear my Make America Great hat and tell the dealers, “Sorry I can’t buy a boat because of the shutdown”. “When the Democratics give in, I’ll come back.” They May kick me out of Chicago.

No, they'll just drop you off in south Chicago in one of the projects and let you find your own way home.

We also flew last weekend and didn't notice any difference.

If it can’t get any worse, now my local craft breweries can’t introduce any new beers :-(
The industry is regulated by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, which controls craft breweries mainly in two ways: approving any new brewery equipment and approving labels on new lines of beer.

Republicans had control of congress for two years - why didn't they fund the border wall then?

The answer: Because the majority of Americans don't support it, and Republicans didn't want to have that vote on record before the election. Instead they waited until they had a much more difficult path, just so Trump could blame someone else for his failed ideas. Yesterday he even denied saying that Mexico would pay for the wall. From May, 2017: https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2017/0502/Why-GOP-run-Congress-didn-t-fund-Trump-s-wall.

This whole shutdown is a manufactured crisis to try place blame somewhere else.

I knew this was thread was going to get political.
Pick your poll... I can show you as many as you can show me in favor or against.
In the end Trump was voted in and one of his campaign promises was a wall. I for one find it unique he is following thru on his promises

Flew last night and sailed through security. No issues.
Regarding support for the wall, there is more support for it than polls show. Just like the election. Polls showing Trump had little chance. Problem was and is that many people who supported him and support the wall don't want to say it in public because Dems shout them down. They just keep quiet and vote their preference.

Saw a story today. CNN had asked a local San Diego station for a piece on whether or not the wall was effective.

The story by the local TV station was that the wall was effective. CNN chose not to use the story, so the TV station released it.

This was on the website "The Hill"
