Well it looks like Accuweather has decided to stop updating info on its app and the app itself in no longer available so time to move on.

The thing I liked about this app was that you could get buoy data and the marine forecast in one app.

Does anyone have a favorite android app with similar functionality?

Not an android app but Sirius has a good weather subscription that we use all the time. Has weather maps, live NEXRAD radar the updates every 4-6 minutes, winds, waves, live warnings, etc. this is a pic of one screen with live radar and a weather map underneath the radar.

Man I really need to upgrade my E120’s.. that looks great sbw1
It's worth a look if you do offshore cruising. It is hard to run into weather surprises with this and a good radar with decent range. We can see the tops of storms as they begin to cross the lake from Wisconsin. Sirius also tells you how tall the cells are by simply putting a cursor on a radar blip.

Not sure if it is available for Android, but I use Bouydata. I also use the Coast Guard App (which seems to work better on an Android).

Yes, that does look great.
I believe I have the generation of Raymarine MFD before yours - e90w and that might work.
What additional hardware did you need beyond the MFD?

Thanks!

I have the USCG app and yes it works well!
I'd love to see them integrate the near shore and open waters forecast in to it somehow.

I agree,
The Sirius XM weather display is the instrument display I value most. The overlays and information are excellent and highly accurate. My receiver is the SR100 working with two Classic "E" displays. Upgrading to the eS series or Axiom requires the SR150 module. I rely mainly on the wind vectors, lightning strikes, storm paths and storm radar data from Sirius. You can put it into a "play" mode and quickly measure the speed of an approaching system.
The value of accurate real time weather proves its worth over and over again. As an example last June we ran up Lake Huron aiming for Rogers City for fuel and overnight dockage on our way to Lake Michigan. All day long there was active weather and into the afternoon two systems seemed to converge at Presque Isle and appeared to block us. The storm was intense with lightning strikes on the water in the entrance to the harbor. There was however an opening of about half a mile that I could see on Sirius and we slipped through to sunshine as we rounded North Point. Had I not had that information we would have had a difficult decision where to go for protection and with low fuel.
Accurate real time weather information can be so important when you are taking the big trips.

We have a Sirius antenna on the hardtop for satellite music. This uses the same device, although I'm told the MFD also has a Sirius antenna. We chose to use the one on the roof.

I recently bought ($3.99) the WindFinder Pro app. Love it. Gives you many different choices for weather stations to save as a favorite. If you choose a station that is a bouy that sends water data (wave height, period, temp) it will show that in the data as well. Gives wind speed/direction (current and projected), temp, rain, and radar.

This is my next upgrade for next spring. We are going to spend July in the North channel and Georgian bay.
