Guidelines for going to and from the Bahamas

Shocking news! I saw Randy just weeks before he passed. He lives close by and he was showing me how he modified his new enclosure. Great guy with a lot of knowledge and willing to share. Condolences to his family and friends

It was quite a shock. We kept trying to meetup at Lake Boca, but I was having parent health issues down here. I was also gonna follow him to the Bahamas. I guess as they say, we make plans and G-d laughs. Randy was a real gem - he will be missed. Jeff

I too am in shock. We first met Randy and Kathy when a group of us got together to go to Port Lucaya but failed due to weather. We all ended up in Boca Chita and had an awesome time. We took many trips with him and his family in the Bahamas. Our last trip we all left Big Game to go out to the Sapona. I was having trouble getting the hook set so Randy dove down a dozen times until he could get it wedged in place. He will truly be missed. He is also the second of our original group from Club Sea Ray. We lost Jack Ensley several years back.

Ken

What's the trick for focusing the regulations? I thought my eyes finally gave out! He,he.

Just wanted to post this for anyone looking to go so they know what they need. I am planning to go on Thursday for the weekend, weather pending (not looking good right now). This is the most detailed and up to date site with the correct details.

So what is your over/under for going? We just went down the Chesapeake Bay to Norfolk, the forecast was for 2-3........either my yardstick is off or someone messed up. The Admiral almost pulled the plug on the whole trip. I never felt unsafe, but felt for the Admiral. What do you do?

Not sure yet, waiting for a better view of Sunday. The north and NE winds are no fun for us as they back up the gulf stream and make a mess out there. I will probably make the call tomorrow. If we don't go to Bimini we are going to head down to the Keys again just to get off the dock and enjoy our fall 85 degree weather.

Thanks - Good site - it seems they have updated. There is no longer reference or links to COVID; at least from what I can determine.

Based on what I see, forget crossing on Sunday, unless something changes. Even Sat doesn't look good. If you can't take off by this Fri, I'd say this weekend is out.

Yep... Weekend trip turned out to be a 100% washout. Got up this morning with hopes to maybe run down to Elliot Key and enjoy that but opened the curtain and nothing but rain here in Ft Lauderdale all day. Sucks!!

Oh well on a positive not I submitted Wednesday night at 10pm for my Bahamas Health visa with my covid test and it took them all of 3 minutes to approve it and tell me my wallet was welcome in the Bahamas...LOL

Hello everyone. While planning for our trip to Bimini in May, I was asked to put together a fact sheet for boaters looking to visit the Bahamas. I put this document together from my own experiences, help from my fellow boaters and information available on the internet. This Guideline is available on a MS Word format or pdf, just shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to send you the latest version. My hope is to update this Guideline as things change so it will be a resource for everyone. The Guideline is not geared specifically to certain locations, just the process and procedures for making a safe crossing. Feel free to provide additional information any time.

NOTE - the pages shown below are not the most current Guide, they were the first version. The most current updated Guide will be sent when requested.
