Gun Rights

Ollie, I try to keep my head down and stay out of everyone's line of fire but I do have a question for you. What do you consider common sense abortion control?

On a separate note, why should there be or not be ANY controls on abortions?
I'm just having fun GFC. It was a meme I posted that I thought was funny as it related to this thread, demonstrating the same reasoning leftists use for limiting ones Bill of Rights. Then someone had a tizzy defending death.

I've already gotten too political in the tiki bar this week and don't want to cause anymore problems:( Maybe we can discuss it in the Holding Tank

I just tried to find the Holding Tank and couldn't locate it. I used to see it on the main page under the Tiki Bar. Wassup widat?

You have to go to the main forums page, scroll down to The Bildge, and there's the Holding Tank area.

We are getting way off course here folks.

S&L you are very right, and I'm not just saying that to appease you and stop that line.

As I have said MANY times if everyone could just sit down and talk we as voters can come up with "common sence" gun laws. The so called laws that our idiot wants to pass are not common sense laws and will do nothing to curb gun violence

@Kwik , @MrHappy and @Blueone hopefully you all are also on ingunowners.com. Would love to have you join us to testify in support of pro gun legislation when it comes up in committee at the state house!

And....lunch is on me. Just not St Elmo's!

Well, gun rights made it, but impeachment didn't?

Was that what I said or implied, "gun laws like the US"?? I brought up a "fact" and as an example, that the Jewish people in Germany were stripped of their weapons to defend themselves. Germany has never had "US Laws" as it relates to the US's "Bill of Rights", so I'm confused how you reached that connection and conclusion by my post??

Weird how Wiki doesn't have a homicide rate for Norway ? So I guess there was never a mass shooting on an island that killed 77 people. But what do you expect, it's Wikipedia.

I told you had no idea how you connected Germany's gun laws to millions of Jewish people being killed by Hitler. I assumed since you are defending maintaining the current US gun laws, that was your connection. No need to try to rephrase it. I think your viewpoint is clear. I just cannot disagree more.

I think those gun stats varied by year because each source and country has various sources and timing. I have looked at how Statistics Canada (a government agency) reports it, and there is a one to two year lag before stats like that are posted. Norway may or may not have been the year of the 77 deaths. But yeah, feel free to adjust Norway's stats if it makes you feel better about the US stats.

Here are Norway's as obtained from the University of Sydney (same data from the same source, for the US is listed below):

In Norway, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is

2015: 1.4820
2014: 1.22
2013: 1.44
2012: 1.75
2011: 2.89
2010: 1.78

2003: 2.54
2002: 2.34
2001: 2.41
2000: 2.80
1999: 2.96
1998: 2.55
1997: 3.20
1996: 3.31

In the United States, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is

2017: 12.2124
2016: 11.96
2015: 11.28
2014: 10.54
2013: 10.64

Because for people like him they only want government involved if it's something they believe in, if not , the hell with the government

You didn't buy any?....there was a bullet shortage nation wide that lasted weeks
I bought several hand guns and ammo for them, AGAIN, I had no problems buying what I wanted...….I don't need .223 or assault weapon ammunition...…… Why does anyone EVEN need .223
Abortion is God's call.... MProd is never going to ever come back you guys

I'll take your call that I'm a snowflake, but you my friend are a ASSHOLE!!!!!

Guys this is getting very heated. For those against guns, I'll ask when something or someone goes bump in the night....who do you call? The police aka men with guns. When seconds count, the police are minutes away and will gladly take the report and draw they chalk line around your body...

There are more guns than people in this country and they aren't going away...

I used Germany as an example, hence "for instance but not limited to", when I posted. That meme, of those dictators, representing those countries, through tyranny of its people, are nothing like the US and never have been. That meme demonstrates the main difference between Liberty & Tyranny. I was responding to your virtue signaling and you putting words in my mouth that I had never said nor implied.

Well, sounds like you're lucky you don't live here with all of this gun death going around. Sometimes I have to dodge sniper fire, like Hillary Clinton did, when I walk to my vehicle leaving the office.

I was looking for this stat from the CDC. This is a 2013 example. I imagine if we eliminated statistics from Chicago, LA, St. Louis, Baltimore and NYC, the numbers would drop dramatically.

"In 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 11,208 firearm-related homicides in the United States. An additional 505 accidental firearm-related deaths occurred in the US–a figure that pales in comparison to the 38,851 deaths by accidental poisoning or the 30,208 deaths caused by falls. So Clinton and gun control proponents who think like her increase these figures by adding in suicides. In this way, 11,713 firearm-related deaths–homicides and accidental deaths–quickly become 32,888 “gun violence” deaths in 2013 and an impetus for gun control." Breitbart News

How is it possibly irrelevant? Its a fact. There are more gun deaths in the US on a comparative basis to other developed countries.

Your constitution gives people the right to bear arms and your gun laws make it easier than other places to buy a gun. Therefore you have a lot of guns per capita in the US compared to other countries (that is a fact). You also have a lot more gun deaths per capita in the US compared to other countries. Another fact. The US is much larger than Norway. That is also a fact.

I think the two gun statistics are related. You don't.

There might be other reasons. It might just be that because there are more guns in the US, people get more practice and are better shots in the US than in other countries? (come on, that must have at least made you think about laughing)

This is not the direction this thread was to go. It was meant to keep my fellow boaters and gun owners safe and out of Richmond. How it digressed into all this I have no real idea.

I am asking ADMIN to delete the thread

Susanandlance...I called Democrats delicate like a snowflake... but please jump to "I insulted you" if that makes you feel better for calling me an asshole. You are the typical left I'll give you that as soon as you feel uncomfortable you have to lash out... in a boating forum for crying out loud where you will solve nothing here.. but please, carry on.
Oh... and congratulations you are my first "ignore" in 13 years...way to go!!… Wingless didn't even qualify.

But the comparative countries statistics ALSO include suicides by gun. So it is still a valid comparison country to country. Like I said earlier, I am all for responsible gun ownership. But I do think that the more that you ignore the facts and talk around them, and let the more radical gun lobbyists speak or protest for you, the more at risk you are for having major amendments voted in. You are not helping your cause of ensuring that good law abiding citizens continue to be able to own guns.
