I’d like to swap out my current hardtop downlights to a full color spectrum LED fixture. I’m having a hard time finding a direct replacement for my current fixtures. I’m curious to hear what others have done. What lighting did you use? What retrofits did you need to do? What controller did you use? Etc. I’ve attached pics of my current setup. 5.5” rough opening. 7” trim diameter. The current fixtures are Cantalupi Yacht Lights. Thanks in advance for your help.

Lumitec is one of the best lighting suppliers there is for marine lighting. JMO.

I used the Aurora lights, but there are many to choose from: https://www.lumiteclighting.com/products/marine-lighting/dome-down-lights.html

If you want RGB full spectrum then this would work as well, there is a thread around here on the Poco lighting controller: https://www.lumiteclighting.com/products/featured-products/poco-digital-lighting-control.html

You can have starboard plates made up from FP marine, Boat Outfitters and a few more.

Can you not just replace the bulbs in your current fixtures? Marinebeam.com (and others) usually have replacement LEDs, including RGB options...

Unfortunately I believe it is a sealed fixture. I’ll dig into when I go back out there. If I can change bulbs I will probably just do that and use the TTP protocol to change the color. It’s not 100% what I’m looking for but might be the most reasonable solution. I’ve see many G4 RGBW options. Not so much in the festoon bulb though. Thanks for the reply.

I changed mine out with Lumitec mirage white/red/blue lights with the glass bezel. I went with the tricolor so I did not need a controller. I had to fabricate sheet pvc (starboard) discs that were the same size as the glass to fit the housing. Then a cut a hole in the vinyl to accept the Mirage light.

I do not believe these are sealed.
take a small screwdriver and insert into the circled area. That frosted glass will come out.

I replaced similar with LEDs from marinebeam. They are compatible with the dimmer as well.

Edit:
The frosted glass comes out with that white rubber ring attached to it.

Those look identical to mine. The bulbs can be replaced, they are not sealed. The top and bottom rotate slightly then come apart. It wasn't easy. I replaced mine with LED bulbs from marinebeam.com . Unfortunately mine went from variable dimming to 3 levels of brightness (probably need a different dimmer module). Good enough since I wanted to stay with a similar color to incandescent.

Very nice retrofit! Looks great. What thickness Starboard did you use? Thanks for the reply

I don’t remember but it is thin. Probably 1/8”. If you pull the frosted glass out of one of the lights and measure the thickness that is what I used. I found the material available online somewhere by googling it.
