Haulout Time

It might be a marina myth but I have been told to leave Bounce dryer sheets and/or bars of Irish Spring soap around cockpit entry points and on the cabin floor..the mice don’t like the smell...can’t say if it is 100% effective, but we haven’t had any rodents in 7 years of covered storage.
I’ve heard the same thing about moth balls.

Inside storage too, but I still put towels in the openings on the transom that drain the scuppers, and a towel in the hole where the shore power cord/water hose/cable line passes thru. A few years back, I saw a nest in one of those holes in another boat in storage, and decided I wanted no part of that!
They pull the plug on mine each year, too. My hot water tank drains to the aft bilge. The pump can never get all of the water out, so I like the fact they pull the plug, tip a bit to the back, and let whatever water is in there drain out. They do put it back, however, after they are done power washing the bottom.
When I go back to check on it the weekend after the boat is pulled, all is dry in the bilge!

I'm indoors as well and they pull the drain plug every year. I go back and install it the first time I see it in the building. I did see a cat walking around...which will help keep mice at bay I'm sure.

A few Bounce sheets in the cabin and cockpit, with two buckets of damp rid (that never really collect water).

So far, no problems. I normally take my canvas home and put the cockpit cover on, but this year I left the canvas up and covered it with plastic. We'll see how she does.

In indoor heated ...I take the canvas off and store it....then cover the boat in plastic.....it’s a lot brighter in there and easier to compound and wax when you pull it up

Yeah except the smell of moth balls stays around forever. Maybe in the cockpit, but never in the cabin. On my first boat I thought that the cedar scented moth balls would keep rodents out and help with the over winter stale musty smell. It worked, but man that smell stayed in the fabric and bulkheads (they were teak) for over a year.

I use peppermint oil for mice. Sure smells a lot better than mothballs. A couple of drops on a cotton ball placed wherever I think I might need it seems to work.

Well it’s officially the end of the season now, she came out yesterday. Good timing though because we are getting a few inches of snow today. Man I hate this time of year. Not warm enough for boating and not cold enough for Skiing and Snowmobiling.

Jeremy:
What material is your Bridge Acrylic? Looks good and clean. Our EZ2CY back enclosure port & starboard lower corners are spider web cracking vertically. Manufacturer is repairing under warranty but suggesting they need to correct by using 4" of White Materials to make those corner bends.

Their first attempt at a repair...unfortunately the cracks grew outside of the patch material.

I just had them remade into hard Acrylic last winter so only 1 season on them. They were the original material before. I would have to ask which material he used to make them. I will ask him next week when I see him. My bow lounges are starting to deteriorate so they are next on the list of repairs this winter.

Last in-First out !
I had the bottom sandblasted before putting it in heated storage , they will re-due the barrier coats and paint this winter.
