I knocked this part off leaving the dock last week. It is plastic and protects the sharp edge beginning the rub-rail in the stern. My manual does not point to this and the local Sea Ray dealer tried to find it to no avail. It seems to to be two parts, an outer skin and an inner plastic and is attached with plastic barb type connectors, like a door panel in a car.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated, so I don't have to fabricate one (or two to match).

Thanks

Had to buy it from Marine Max, only sold in pairs, cost was around $130. :wow::huh:

I think the Sea Ray part number is 958074 Rub Rail End Cap, as per the parts manual. I have the package with the part number on it at the lake if you need me to double check that number?

Thanks and it would be great if you could double check the part number. Did they stock it or order it? The first dealer said he did not see anything pointing to it in his manual :(. That was a expensive oops by me :(:(

It was a stock item, and I got the impression that it was a very common item since they had them close by the counter and did not even look up a part number.

i think the part is common to many Sea Ray models, I'm surprised your dealer is having trouble with it.

We will be at the lake next weekend and I'll confirm the part number for you.

Do you want to sell me the one you did not use? :)

Thought about offering to sell you my one that I did not use... but since I am vested in it now, I am going to keep it.

I did double check the part number and it is correct.

Cap, Rubrail End Cap
Sea Ray part number 958074
(Marine Max part number 506304)

No promises but I will walk the yard tomorrow and see what I see. We have two old abandoned Sea Rays in the yard....maybe just maybe

I bought some off the internet. I believe it was e-bay searayman.

Well I ended up buying them from a sea ray dealer nearby. $112 plus tax and shipping . I looked online and eBay to no avail.

Nope. Set of two.

He does have the large ones.(about twice the size of yours) sold individually but yours come as a pair.

I am going to see if he did not place the order yet - I will buy from the eBay connection - thanks!

Well as it turns out they had already placed the order. However when I arrived to pick them up today, I asked if they could cut me a break and showed them the e-bay price. I was nice about it and and they cut about 40 bucks off the price- still more but not enough to pay restocking fees and reorder on eBay IMO. Cuddos to marine max parts department!
Now to install them and NOT hit them again!

Thanks for the link !

After all this - I am getting the boat ready for launch tomorrow and finally pull the parts out and go to install the broken cover and it doesn't fit :smt013. The hole center in the original one is 1.5" but the new ones are ~1.375". If anyone has a spare, would you measure the center distance of the plastic barbed studs?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I will be at the boat this weekend and can measure the spare one I have for my 1999 270DA if you still need the information. I should also still have the original package with the part number.

If it's no trouble that would be great. What I am in the process of doing is filling the hole that is off with an epoxy. Once it cures I am going to re-drill it and re-insert the plastic barb.

BTW- When you installed your new one did you use a rubber mallet to "pop" it in? Did you put sealant on the decorative plastic before installing or just apply after it was seated properly?

Thanks,

Mark

This is what I have found,
