Lost forward gear on my way out of the dock. Pulled forward, put in neutral.... wouldn't go back in gear. Goes into reverse fine.... looks to be hydraulic controls... Cummins diesels - 8.3 CTA's... mechanicals.

I would guess maybe a micro switch... literally no idea...

Anyone?

If you can gain access to the micro switches on the gear shifter plate you can use a jumper wire to Trouble shoot it. The micro switches are quite delicate but I’ve not heard of failures like that.
Follow the short wire bundle to a group of flag connections. Separate the bundle and follow the pair that goes to the I believe the top switch. Disconnect and jump the pair together to test.
May have loosened and just not engaging too.
Good luck and keep us posted

Directly under the levers. I’m cruising now and looking right at it. Let me know if you want me to call you and walk you through it. It’s where I parallel my remote helm system.

Have you by chance looked at the solenoids on the drives yet. I have heard that on some boats the terminals are prone to breaking off or at least the wires ether shaking loose or loosening over time and then burning causing a lot of resistance and hence stop conducting all together or intermittently.
