Here come the scams

Lots and lots of CL scams. $75k boats for $18k, boats advertised in Northern Illinois with palm trees in the background, so many trailer boats without registration numbers.

Few years ago I was going to pickup my boat from winter storage which was in a old Walmart building at a shopping plaza. When I showed in my truck to get the boat there was a couple that was there in a beat up old car taking pictures of my boat. The woman was posing as the man took pictures of her and the boat. The women ask me how much I wanted for the boat I old her it wasn't for sale but she kept asking me how much to buy it. I'm sure they were going to use my boat in a scam.

I gave up on CL over two years ago after trying to sell a car and motorcycle, and all I got were people wanting to send me a check for well over the amount, cash it, and send them the bike/car and balance of the check. Whatever, dude.

Wait, you gotta check out http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php...ller-panel-examine-plusosis-licit-age.107712/ Try to keep up with their message.

In June of 2020 I got a great deal on a boat on CL. It is work, but it is worth it sometimes to sift through the crap…

I like the fact that it has a "large clean work area" and "work vice" (not "vise"). All that in a 21 foot boat!

All my kids are using Facebook market place for a while now with pretty positive results so far
FB marketplace is ok in that it allows you to vet the seller a little bit. It sucks ass for searching and finding things. I routinely see boats pop up in my daily search that have been listed weeks ago.

Hmmm, we sold our diesel pusher on CL in 2 weeks. A couple from Vancouver, WA called and after about a 30 minute phone conversation they drove 3.5 hours to look at it. They liked it a lot and came back the following weekend with check in hand.

I'm glad you had success with CL. I finally gave up with CL and moved the rigs through FB. I think that, once I'm ready to head north, we'll hire a local auction house to flush most everything. As much as I like horse-trading, I get sick and tired of people constantly low-balling me, to the point of where it becomes an insult. If it comes down to it, I'd rather donate the item and use it as a tax break than take a ridiculously low offer.
