The timing is perfect! We're leaving later this afternoon and we have a few things that need to be fixed in the head... now at least we can get all the crappy work done in one day!

+10 on these filters!! Installation was easy (since I watched and did not participate, well...it LOOKED easy)
Best part...NO MORE ODOR!!
I don't think the filter was EVER changed!! Now to figure out why it's not flushing quickly....

JACK....Thank You! Great product! And thanks to Ken for recommending!

I want share that purchasing the filter from Better Boat Products was very easy and I recieved it quickly thereafter. I climbed into the extremely tight engine compartment of the 280 Sundancer yesterday afternoon, unhooked the existing filter (which was original) and started to install the new part. What I found is that the PVC caps on either end are too big and keep the Better Boat Products filter from fitting into the cradle/strapping system install by Sea Ray (pictured). I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy one from West Marine so that I can get things put back together quickly. I wrote my name and the date on the new filter prior to climbing into the engine compartment so I am not sure if a return will be accepted.

I have a 280DA too and I used some zip ties to hold it in place. It's a filter with nothing but some unwanted gases flowing through it. As long as it's held in place you're fine. Mine doesn;t sit 100% in the sockets but again a couple of zip ties and you're good to go.

Jason, No worry at all. If you are not 1,000% satisfied, send it back for a full refund including shipping. You are right, it does not match the sealand bracket exactly but your the first person to have trouble with it. We have an alternative bracket that I can also send to you that is very solid/sturdy. The wire ties also work just fine.

Seriously, send it back if your not happy with it. Or give it to your neighbor and I'll refund anyway. I want no unhappy customers.

Jack

Make sure to flush the tank with water after pumping out then pump out the water. Also make sure you use a good treatment to break down the waste. There is someone always swearing by the Noflux Digestor as the best product. I plan on trying this myself.

Can anyone confirm if the 2004 280 has a 5/8" vent filter fitting? thx

Get a big orange filter…supporter of the site, and refillable. Fits standard 5/8” fitting.
