Hi I have a 1995 230o/v sundancer I guess no owners manual. I have a cap up top that has waste on it, but I have no idea how to mt it? Any help?

You find a pump out station, unscrew the cap and use the vacuum hose on the dock to suck the waste out. Most have a rubber tip that you simply hold against the opening. Turn on the pump if it is a self service unit. There will be a green button to push that starts a pump. The suction end has a ball valve with a sight glass. Once the pump has been on a few seconds there will be suction present, slowly open the valve while holding the rubber tip to the open port and watch the sight glass as what used to be food gets pulled out. Eventually nothing will be moving thru. turn off the valve and remove the tip from the port. Most folks like to give the system a nice rinse of several gallons of fresh water then repeat. Some repeat several times, flushing the head a few times to break up crud on the bottom of the tank depending on how long its been since the last time you emptied. Service the head with what ever holding tank chemical you desire. Many of us use the Zaal no-flex digester. There are a few threads with this topic you can read. Good luck

What's "mt"?

Since you likely have a porta-potti (as noted, there's plenty of information out there about this), you either find a pump out station like mentioned above or be a little creative and do it at home. The other option is to remove the hoses, plug them tightly, get caps for your porta-potti and use it like a normal porta-potti where you disconnect the two halves. If you can't find the proper caps, just buy a new potti.

What's "mt"?

Repeat after me: M T M T M T M T

When I was a greenhorn engineer, one of my units of responsibility was the water plant at the refinery. On my daily rounds, I would go to the control room and check the operating log sheets. One thing we had to monitor was a tank that held acidic regeneration water from our softeners, IIRC. The low pH water was held until it could be neutralized before discharge to the river. Of course, this had to be coordinated with the next regeneration cycles of the softeners. A few weeks into the job, I finally got the nerve to ask the Head Operator what the heck "mt" meant on the log sheet. With a big grin, he just said to say it over and over, faster and faster. About the 5th time saying "mt", the light bulb went off!

mt=Empty

Ah, memories!

Aha! For some reason I thought it was an abbreviation for "mount" and I couldn't figure out how that played into this scenario. I can understand why the shorthand on log sheets... but I guess typing 3 extras letters on a forum so others understand is too much to ask ;)

Carpe Diem gave a nice procedure to follow. I would only add one step if you're doing a self serve pump out that most marina's employ if they're doing it for you... after pumping out, they typically will take the business end of the pump out hose, dip it in the water at the dock, and turn on the suction for a moment to draw in enough water so their hose isn't sitting in the sun with raw sewage still in it. Of course, it will have salt water in it (on the ocean), but that's probably still better than blackwater. I usually take a freshwater hose and spray down the area around the waste deck plate after it's reinstalled too.

Oh, and be sure to tip the kid if they do it for you, nasty smelly job

Epos, how long did it take you to type that? That’s funnnny I don’t care who you are:D and spot on. I first gave it a double take then read the rest with ease. Very interesting

I'm amazed that this is correct. Never thought I would be able to read that, but I did without any problem. o_O

My first boat had that style of head that used lake water to flush. The smells that came out of that thing when it was used was the WORST. Maybe NoFlex would have helped, but on that boat, we had to implement a no #2 rule.

Another one, asks question, never to be heard from again. I dont get it
