Hey all,
I am back in the market and trying to gauge pre-purchase costs. I understand from a recent non sea ray purchase to expect about $20/foot for the Hull/Systems Survey. What I don't know is the cost for an engine survey (diesel Cat or Cummins) and engine fluid sample analysis.
As for the engine survey, what all is involved? Leak down, compression. etc., and what fluids should I look to have sampled (transmission, Oil) and who or where do I send this? Any help on what to look for and expect as far as survey costs for engine and fluids would be much appreciated. looking at '98 to 02' 3116, 3126 or Diamond Series..
Thanks

My cat survey with fluid samples on gen oil, both mains oil and coolant, and trans oil was about $850. That included the blow by test. Those were all done by cat SOS as they had previous samples to compare against

hull survey around here cost me another $850 on our 410

Cat oil samples cost $13.50 each. You don't need a Cat mechanic to pull the oil sample, just go by your local Cat store and buy the number of sample kits you need. They come with sample bottle and a mailer to send in the sample toy the Caterpillar lab.

I just spent 1200 on engine included oil samples, 2 cats, genny and two trannys

1200 on hull

550 on haul out

my oil samples were done in 24hrs....

In March of this year I spent very similar money to @nealtrombley
My haulout was 450 and 100 for a powerwash of the bottom (in Alabama)
