Reaching out the members to send some prayers and positive vibes my way. Not only did I have to put the boat up for the season today, but I am off to Johns Hopkins Hospital for surgery Friday to remove a tumor in my pancreas. They caught it early so hoping for a full recovery and be ready for next season. Thanks for your time to respond.

Rainbows and blessings are where you find them. We spent a rainy week at The Office only to wake up to this yesterday. Look for it.

been there, February, 2020, cancer surgery, had tounge cut out, made me a new one from wrist muscle, replaced that muscle from my leg. Never mind me, I good, DONT SMOKE!!!
you will be in there at least a week. Every morning at 6am, some nurse will come in, turn on all the lights, blast wake you up with incredible bright lights. Take your BP and temp. Shortly after your doctor will come in with a passel of interns to ask you how you feel. they will poke and prod you.
Tell them fine, dont bitch. they just doing their job trying to fix you up. BE NICE. By 8am it will be over and you can go back to sleep for a while. A while being maybe half hour when the orderly comes in to give you a flavorless no-taste no salt, no sugar, bland breakfast. BE NICE. they just doing their job. GOOD LUCK.. DONT complain. I was really nice, but I heard a lot of patients in rooms down the hall bitching and screaming, just miserable people. DONT be them.
I see my surgeon every 3 months now (come Feb if all tests good they will declare me cancer free, takes 2 years) and he laughs and hugs me every time i see him, says i had the most positive outlook of any patient he ever had. Do it, you'll be fine.

You'll get through, very similar to PLs experience for me, 2016. Doing fine now, have bought two more boats since then. 'Cause I can, and intend to enjoy my remaining time.

You will find that most likely your perspective on life will (or is now) changing. It will focus you on what's really important in life, at least for me it did. I hate it that it took that, but I'm actually happier now. I don't sweat the "small shit" any more. And family is #1.

For example, I would not normally take a picture of a freakin rainbow over The Office, but I can appreciate it now. May sound strange to some.

Great encouragement from above post! I pray GOD speed be with you. I do not mean to offend and I apologize if it does but You might want to read Psalm 91. It is a great comfort to me. JC

Hell ya Jim, that 3 months overheating issue kept boat on land all summer, in past i would have lost my mind, not any more, one day at time and it takes a lot to piss me off anymore and a boat aint one of them. First time it does it’s sold. I just dont care about the small stuff anymore.

When I was going through chemo for metastatic prostate cancer a friend gave me this poem. It's now my motto. Feel free to adopt it as your own....

The Devil whispered in my ear
"You are not strong enough to withstand this storm."

Today I whispered in the Devil's ear
"I AM the storm."

Went to Johns Hopkins myself for cancer surgery. First class care. I completely understand why people go there. Nothing close in my home town. The evening before surgery we went to Capital Grille for dinner. Porcini rubbed rib eye, mashed potatoes and asparagus. I kidded my wife it was like my last supper. You picked a great place for your surgery! They are the best. Prayers and best wishes!!
