I just purchased my first Sea Ray two weeks ago and family and I are really enjoying it. It was in very good shape and only had 260 hours on it. There are just a few little things that need to be addressed, but my biggest annoyance even though small is the ribber boot on the ignition switch. It is cracked and falling apart more every time I use it. I am looking to order one online but I am quickly finding out buying parts for a boat online it a totally different experience than buying car parts online. I found this one http://www.marine-products.com/sierra-ignition-switch-weatherproof-boot-nut-only-mp-39190.html and wondered if it would work. I have a 2000 210 Sundeck. Any words of advice or have experience with replacing the boot?

That is probably it... Sierra makes allot of Mercruiser (and other) replacement parts.

Congratulations and welcome to CSR!

That's probably it, but it could also not be the right one. Threads could be different if it was made by a different manufacturer.
Honestly, the whole ignition switch with the boot included is probably not all that expensive.
Yours is 17 years old so it may be better to just get the whole new ignition switch.

Find a dealer and get to know their parts department.

I've had great luck using my parts department at the marina which is also a Sea Ray dealer. If they can't find the right part for my 19 year old 290 DA they will figure out what will work and give me pricing options.

Thanks, for the insight. Does anyone one know of a site I can go to, type in the Sea Ray part number, and find the correct part. I really don't want to have to pull the ignition out until I'm ready to replace it.

Thanks, I had that. What I would like to find is a site that I could type in that part number and order the part directly, but I am quickly finding that doesn't exist. I found a local dealer so i guess I'll give them a call.
