i had to wait until I got my boat out of there before posting!

Long story short... Kowality Marine did my bottom and it took a few weeks. Rob came highly recommend and he’s within.

I figured having it winterized was a good option. I called Trout’s to have it wintetized, including oil change, the lower unit, hot water tank, the lines.....

So I go down to pay my dues..... I look at the invoice. Winterize the engine...oil change and lower unit service.

No indication of the water system.......

Some old bird (possibly her mother) comes out saying “you need to take it across the street to have it done!

That could have been disastrous! Might have lost 1/2 the season....

Hate to say it, but always verify the work done. Marinas get busy and make mistakes.

That would be an over-simplification.

The person on the phone was probably new to the game, or had her mind on other things. There are 2 contacts on their website. The mechanical aspect (parts and service) and the general Marina (slips, haul-out, reservations)

I called service with my wish list.

It included winterizing the engine, lower drive, hot water tank, shower sump, oil change, head and water system. She went as far as asking how much fuel was in the tank.

At arrival and after looking at the incomplete work order, I was told that the water system is done by the guys that do the haul out and not by them. She should have known that!!!!! And directed my call to the other number and/or had them fill the work order to what I asked for!

I guess that might be second nature to the Marina members that are familiar with their practices, but not to someone with the likes of me. Again she should have been aware!

I don't trust anyone to do what they say anymore - sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, but usually after I inspect the work I find something I don't like. It can be as small as the radio station changed on my car during service or as big as the marina at Lake Tillery that just showed up at my house one fall day and winterized my boat and SeaDoo. I had inquired earlier that year about having the SeaDoo winterized (it was new and I didn't know much about it) and went out to the lake one day in Oct months later and found tags on both the SeaDoo and and boat that they were winterized.

These days I can winterize my boat myself, watch it get put away in it's normal storage rack and be pretty sure no one will touch it until I show up again in the spring. It would drive me nuts having to rely on someone to do this type of work on my boat and not be able to come behind and inspect the work.

Safety point. Our boat is stored on land for the winter in a marina yard. After it is winterized I send the marina an email with a note how the boat was left and how much fuel is in the tanks including the gas can on the swim platform for the dinghy. If there ever is a fire they will be able to inform the fire department. This is also check list for me. When the marina used to winterize I got them to send me the list of what they did. This way if they missed an item I knew.

Good idea.
