New to the forum, hello all!

I’m in the process of purchasing “my new” 2005 Sea Ray 420. Will be located in Panama City Beach, FL. Survey is scheduled for Wednesday. I called Sea Worthy (Geico) and was quoted almost $9000 / year for insurance. Not what I was expecting. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Here is an article that I ran across when researching my insurance needs. I hope this works, as I am copying from my OneNote.

I pay $125 a month here in FL from Progressive. $1,000 Deductible 50k agreed value.

I just wrapped up coverage for my new to me 2006 52 Sedan Bridge which will be kept in East Central Florida.
Rates are based upon Insurance Credit Score, Driving Record, Captain's experience and safety / nav courses taken, Boat's age, completed Survey's, Boat's location, Owner's residence, type of marina or harborage, levels of coverage, how the boat is to be used, and the greatest impact is the coverage deductible. Regardless $9K is excessive no mater where you keep the boat. The quotes came in for the 52DB between $5200 and $6500 which included a complete Bahamas rider. Suggest you shop around; try Jerry Norman or Traci Meier at Novamar; they are in Sarasota Fl.

I had a 2005 420 insured in Fort Myers that was just sold and my policy was $2400 from Geico!
I do have over 40 years experience with no claims which as stated in a previous post helps. I also have my cars and umbrella with Geico.

About 950 per year through NBOA for agreed value with 12/15-4/15 winter out of the water lay up.

You need to be talking to a marine insurance broker.

Yacht policy, agree value should be well under 5k.

BoatUS for my 98' 370DA in Colorado was 578/yr 80k agreed value 2000 deductible

BoatUS for my 06' 340DA in TX quoted at 1581/yr 120k agreed value 2000 deductible

Where you boat impacts insurance quite a bit. I went from what was most likely a very, very low claim type of lake - to what undoubtedly is a much higher claim lake.

35 yrs of boating/800+ credit/boater safety course/never a claim
secured slip

I got a quote from Farmers Ins, where we have home, autos, umbrella, life.......and they were double the above TX quote.

I just went under contract on a 310 here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia (non seasonal). I'm getting quotes right around 8-900 / year.

I just closed on a 2000 400DB. Insurance is $660 per year here on Lake Michigan.
