is it time to replace the risers?

hello,
I got a 2011 185 Sport with approximately 180 hours on it. I just bought it this spring. I want to keep up on maintenance. Is there any way to tell if the risers need to be replaced? Engine temp is fine and I don't have any issues, but I would like to avoid them if possible. Is there a temp they should be under while under idle or just after cruising? Or is the hand touch I keep hearing about really the best way to test them?

Risers. It's in salt water and raw water cooled.

I am guessing you mean the elbows. Do you know when they were done last? If not it's time to at least have them inspected and plan for a replacement. If they were never done then at 9 years you are already on borrowed time. If done at five years you are probably just about due.
