Is it worth it? - Free 27ft Sea Ray 268 Sundancer

That 1989 is a beautiful unicorn.
The ‘87 would have to be purely a labor of love.
I don’t see that as a viable money maker.
Good luck either way.

Look at this: https://www.boattrader.com/listing/1989-sea-ray-268-sundancer-103129895/

A beautiful boat, likely fresh water as it is in Michigan.

Has nice canvas, great upholstery, awesome engine drive combo all for $13k asking, not sure if trailer included. No way the boat in the photos has all that restored for the $10k one could likely buy this boat for it does not even have the arch the others have.

Nice to see a well kept vessel .my 89 is the 454 as well but it's a bravo 1 drive so I think this one has had that replaced . .I value mine with 750 hrs and in good condition at about 8 to 10 g Canadian loonies without a trailer. Last year first season with it for me I spent about 1500 in parts on all cooling hoses, exhaust tubes, shutter valves , (all before any failure just to be prudent ,new water heater .and 30 hrs in basic maintenance. I am a pretty competent mechanic of the driveway variety and I am certain I would not take the free boat other than to salvage some parts off it to store away for my beauty. It's worth something if it has enough good parts and the facility of time and space to restore and keep them until sold or needed. Not a resurrection project in my opinion

Looking more closely at it. I don't that is a 268. It's looks more like a 270, which is a wider beam boat. Nicer for the water, but too wide for normal street legal trailering. A 268 is 8' 6" beam.
