I just purchased a 2000 Zodiac with a fiberglass bottom. It is a great thing to have and I mainly bought it for the dog so that we can take her to the shoreline when we are on the hook. My question is would there be any way of telling what the material is made of?. I understand that there is PVC or Hypalon and that the glue to repair either or is very specific to the material. My pontoon is separating from the transom and is in need of being re-glued.

In my experience. The Hypalon has been a white or off white color while the PVC I have seen is and off grey color. Hypalon is a laminate of multiple layers and much heavier than PVC. Wipe the area you are reworked well with MEK. Then when dry mask the surrounding surface. A product like McNett Aquaseal Urethane Repair Adhesive & Sealant will work well. Just do a small spot on a board so you are familiar with the consistency and how you are doing your patch.

Thank you for the advise , the dink is pretty light even considering it is a hard bottom so perhaps it is PVC.

Our Hypalon dinghy is grey.

Our Hypalon is grey as well. But I've also seen white ones.

I usually check by looking at the weave in the material. Hypalon is smoother where as the PVC's weave is more pronounced.

I THINK all Zodiacs are PVC. Correct me if I'm wrong Zodiac gurus!

After doing some research using the SERIE number and the HIN as a reference I was able to conclude that it is indeed made of PVC. I went to West Marine and bought the two part Poly Marine PVC glue and went to work, fingers crossed that I prepped the PVC and mixed the 2 part glue properly and will hold up to the test of time. Thank you all for your input!!
