Is your Marina considered an essential business?

I think they are entirely wrong to close down all the parks and such. On the one hand they say you can get outside and exercise, then with the other they close the parks. I get that they don't want big groups and everyone 6 feet away from each other. So instead of closing everything, just have the police break up any large groups.
Here in CA they opened the parks for the weekend but the bathrooms remain closed. Great idea, encourage folks to get out and enjoy the great out doors but only if you can 'hold it' til you get back home! How about leaving the bathrooms open and hiring a homeless guy to clean the restrooms hourly and provide sanitary wipes for those entering like every grocery store does?

Just this last week, I called the marina but got no answer, and now on Friday, they sent out an email saying they are closed. I'm sure, (at least they better) have a security guard there, so I don't know why they can't let us in to work on our boats? But then the whole closing everything down makes no sense.
which marina are you talking about that you cant work on your boat? ours is at colony marine. We were there last weekend working on it. We're ready to launch but i have no idea when that will be. We dont boat out of there. We just bought it end of last year and havent used it yet. We're scheduled to bring it around to grand haven on may 9th. That might change.

Doc is next door to me. He's talking about Belle Maer in Harrison Township.
Congrats on the new boat. I love the 540. Did you get it from Billy at Platinum? He a great guy.

Well sort of. Im friends with travis from jefferson beach and he got me the deal.

My Yacht Club has a liquor license so therefore the clubhouse is closed... Per the rules in New York right now, But I am not restricting anybody from gaining access to their boats which are all still currently on land we will be launching at some point in April. The marina next-door to us has been actively working on and launching boats. What a year to be commodore (yay me!)smh

Order...not oder :)

Marina's are transportation related. Ours has some of the police boats winterized.

That first 60 degree Saturday in April...man my marina is surely going to feel essential...highly essential :)

I understand why they are not essential businesses of course. But if social distancing persists beyond mid-April I can think of no better place for my family to distance ourselves than out on the water. Here's to hoping most of us get in before May 1!

My marina is open. Was out on the water Sunday. We obeyed all current FWC guidelines..50 foot separation, and no more than 9 on the boat. The marina office is closed to walk ins. Just the person answering phones is in there.

Our marina has live-aboards. That makes the marina essential. Here is the excerpt from our state's list of essential worker descriptions:
'Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences.'

That’s interesting ....we have floating homes in our marina... I wonder if that’s why we are open and others around us are not...

The marinas on Catawba Island & Marblehead are working. A few managers/owners I know at a few different marinas told me they were considered an essential business and were still working. Boats are being moved out of the buildings, worked on and launched.

That being said, the buildings and bathrooms are not open to the public &/or dockers/boat owners.

You aren't allowed to be around the employees, in any of the buildings or be present at the hoist during launch.

I had an appointment at 1pm today to install my batteries while they were at lunch but had to be gone when they got back so they could get in to do waxing, move stuff and etc...

In Ohio the Stay At Home Order is supposed to be over at 11:59pm, Monday, April 6th. I believe if it is not extended they will let people in as long as they practice social distancing or extend it to later if the Governor extends the order.

My boat gets launched tomorrow and as I stated I am not allowed to be there. Once in they will call me and let me know when I can show up to move it to my dock.

That's what I know. YMMV

Western NY here - ours will be open as scheduled on 4/15, but no pump outs, boater lounge, laundry access, and only immediate family on the docks.

I’ll take it, I just want it in the water

Sounds like the Marina is picking and choosing what they consider essential. No pump outs? And others mentioned shutting down bathrooms? Sadly the illegal discharging will be rampant.
