Well, as of last Friday, I am no longer a 268DA owner. We have sold the ole girl and moved on to a 1998 290DA.

I guess, at age 48, I need to officially retire from the “Hole In The Water Club” and join the “Sport Cruiser” section. :)

It’s been a great ride and I will miss my 268. She has been a wonderful gateway from strictly fishing, into the cruising and marina lifestyle. My family and I are hooked for life and can’t wait to start making memories on the new "Getaway".

Been a 98 290 DA owner for the last 2 years...... it is a fun boat.

What floor plan does yours have?

BTW I have a file full of 98 290 DA documents linked below. Feel free to download anything you want.

Nice. Just keep in mind that the Sport Cruiser section is just another chapter of the Hole in the Water club :)

Awesome boat!! That is a model I am considering for my family of four. Everything i read about it says its a good size for families. Could you do me a favor and measure the size of the V-Berth? I am curious about how comfortable it is to sleep on.

Thanks everyone! Definitely a bigger hole. I'm rigging her with fishing equipment as we speak!

I think think mine is the "A" floor plan with the couch on starboard side, angled V-birth with galley on the port side.

jobofly - A king size 3" memory foam mattress fits nicely on an angle with a little slicing to make it the same shape as the forward bed. I think the extra padding is definitely needed for sleeping comfort.

I have a family of 5 with my 3 kids being 18, 16 and a 13yrs. Seems to be enough room for us to crash with the option of sleeping out on the back deck if needed.

Lucky Ducky - THANK YOU!! Of course, most of the manuals were missing on this boat...

Nice boat, Bob!

I still remember that Islander from decades ago.....LOL

LOL! Oh yes. Caught a ton of fish on that boat. The guy who has it now loves it! He's still getting the deck bloody on Lakes Huron and Michigan.

Rough riding son of a "b", but it sure caught fish!

Congrats on the new boat. We will be up in your general area stating this weekend (Caseville and Port Austin). Maybe we'll see you on the water.
Enjoy the new to you boat.

Getaway- just sold my 270, was looking at the 290's, only to find out that any of the "newer" boats with the permanent arches won't fit into my storage unit.....so we downsized and went newer for a few years while we still have our kids at home. Once they sail off to college in a few years, we will probably go to cruiser and permanently slip it somewhere at that point. We ended up with a 2005 260 Sundancer with only 304 hours on it, so we are happy with that, but going to miss the wide 10ft beam :(

Best of luck to you and look us up if you come Ludington way this year!

Hey Brian! Yeah Chuck told me your boat was for sale. That was a sweet 270 and someone got a nice deal.

The 290 won't fit in my barn either...YET! The arch unbolts (8 bolts) and I'll be laying it down to get it through the 12ft door.

Working on a way to hinge it for next year.....

I looked into the hinged arch system like boltman did, but wasn't too keen on the expense and the potential for things to go wrong, it sounds like it's not a straight "cut" as the arch is angled a little, and then you need to make sure you reinforce it correctly.....I know you have done plenty of reinforcing and glass work so probably wouldn't be a problem for you, but it was above my skill level and quite pricey to have someone else do it. Will you guys be up in Ludington at all this season? Bob G. got another new boat, really nice 340 Amberjack and his 300 Weekender is for sale if you know anybody, brand new full simrad electronics!

Planning on being there a few times this year. Check your PM's.

I see his Weekender for sale. He just bought that a couple years ago. LOL. His 3-4ft "itis" is worse than mine!

the Hole in the Water Club is directly affiliated with the Hotel California
You can retire but you can never leave ;)
