Hello Fellow boaters, Do you get that excitement in your blood that i get this time of year every year! Two to three more weeks and the wrap is coming off. Located here on Long Island you just don't know with the weather. But i don't care its coming off! I hope everyone had a safe winter and the family stood healthy. Have a safe boating season and enjoy.

Les

Yes I get excited. The anticipation of the warmer weather is almost as enjoyable as the weather itself.

You are a little braver than me though, I usually don’t remove the shrink wrap until mid April.

Oh yea! Lil further south than you but this morn ordered a bunch stuff on amazon, won’t be long now, Thursday be near 70, taking afternoon off to bottom paint.

Darn. I have projects to finish up before they have to move me back outside out of the way.

Ya marina stacks/ places boats based on launch date. So back in November I picked April 1. So now I gotta scramble cause if I not ready and boat behind me ready to go, I gotta pay to move and reblock, next year I just do May 1.

My excitement about the onset of spring starts the day I shrink wrap and walk away in the fall but I know what you mean about this time of year.

I just ordered all new dock lines and a few other things and have visited the boat more often over the last few weeks.

I’ve unwrapped as early as the beginning of April some years and had an entire glorious month to prep and get in the water weeks early. Usually it’s the middle of April with splash the middle of May though.

April can be funny up here. A foot of snow can fall after a week of 70 degree weather.

thats for sure. It seems the last few years May has been amazing then June is a let down. For that reason I try to get in by mid April so I can finish up any loose ends, final clean, and really get ready before May kicks into gear.

You’re right. I forgot that you live close by.

June has been rainy and windy...very windy the past few years.

I don’t care. I HAVE to get going and even though it’s tons of work that I’m getting too old for I can’t wait.

I went to the boat last weekend. It was warm out but there was still a foot of snow on the ground. I opened the door in the shrink wrap and got hit with “the smell”.

You know the smell...engines, vinyl, etc.

been smelling it once a week since October - the fun first offseason with a new boat!

our marina (port of rochester) has bubblers in and the river is mostly liquid so I could probably go in anytime after april first. Depends on when I can finish compounding, and 41’ of fiberglass makes for a lot...

can’t wait though

Scheduled to go in April 1st and went to the marina today to plug in and check the batteries. Counting down the days!

Haven’t seen my boat since the end of October, then hunting season, then been in FL for 2 1/2 months. We must be nuts because we are both looking forward to leaving sunny 70 & 80 degree weather to go work on our boat in a cold building in a few more weeks....It’s almost time.

Sounds like you're hinting about a big southerly move!
