Does anyone know what is going on with the channel in Jones Inlet. I went through it and buoys appear to be missing.

I was informed that there is a large gap between the buoys that looks like some are missing, but they are not. The space was intentionally left so that the powers that be are not "at fault" for someone hitting bottom inside a marked channel. I have actually not run the inlet yet this year, but also understand the channel now runs along the beach to the west at Point Lookout then makes a sharp left turn to head out. The shoaling leaves this as the only way to get in and out.
USE CAUTION as the run along the beach essentially puts you broadside to the surf.
