Fired the engines right up and she was running great. Weather today was decent so I decided to take my 90 searay 350 for a short cruise. I was Idling out inside the marina when all of a sudden I heard and felt a loud bang. Scared I decided to continue on just to test for vibration. Yeap. vibration felt on Starboard engine. Crap.
Not sure yet if I bent a strut or just the prop. Since the boat is on a lake the water is cold and merkie this time of the year. I guess I'm going to have to have it pulled out. Thoughts anyone?

If so your not the only one lately, 2 rock strikes just on our dock at PR this year.

If Lanier call Tony Cato.

wonder if someone would rent me a trailer large enough for a 40 footer.

Allatoona Landing marina, Cartersville, GA

We are not too far from you at Glade...I know Ahoy is closed, and so is Glade's service center..Lake is down almost 16 feet so if you wanted to pull it, the Blockhouse ramp is probably your only choice on this end of the lake. Do you have a trailer?

Be very careful trying to float it on a trailer with shafts and rudders. To my knowledge, which is limited, I don’t think there are many lifts on Allatoona. Good luck!

Rod (Houseboat and Cruiser owner) on my Dock say's he has a trailer capable. He's in China though and won't be back until Mid Jan.

No lifts at Allatoona that I'm aware of. Only rails. My boat was bottom painted in Nov 2018 at Park Marina.

Zero lifts on Allatoona.
Here are pictures of her on the rail loader at Park Marina 2018. Guess I'll need to call them and get on the waiting list

Hey.. The only way I'd bend a prop today is by hitting it with a hammer. My guess, only idling, you put a ding in your prop. Nothing real serious and par for the course. Good luck.

Could have been worse if you had a $9k. Sharrow prop with no protection plan.

Not sure what a Sharrow prop is but wonder level of difficulty pulling the damaged prop is?
Thinking aloud vessel pull out would still be required

When I was at Park Marina with my 340, their rail lift pulled my dock mate's 380 out with no problem. A diver could pull your prop for you...someone may know of one around the lake...

  1. Are you sure it was a rock and not a log? I feel your pain. I boat my boat off of your lake last year and the water was very low then.
