So I bought a Sea Ray Sundancer 240 and had a glorious trip to the San Juans in this gorgeous weather last weekend.

I made the mistake of using too much paper and clogged the line between the toilet and the tank. I fixed that by disconnecting the hose form the unit and taped the hose of my shop vac to it and sucked the line clean. The pump cycles on and off trying to build up a vacuum I am supposing. Just how to I fix this? I am told there are 2 duck valves in there and one must be stuck open.

Please help.

So you cleared it by sucking the paper back out the hose... basically the opposite way.
Might have inverted the duckbill valves in the vacuum pump.
Trust me, if you were going to the trouble of touching the valves.. just replace them with new at the same time.

Your vacuum generating pump has four duckbill valves.
This place will help you understand..

Yes There are 4 Duck valves two on the inlet and two on the outlet side of the vacuum pump . Change them and you should be good to go!

No I don't think there are any duckbill valves between the crapper and where I disconnected the line are there? Thanks for the diagram The red arrow shows where I disconnected and sucked from the hose there which would be the same way the waste flows. After I have opened this system up how long does the pump have to run to create vacuum perhaps I did not wait long enough?

The duckbill valves don't have to be between where you disconnected and the head. They are inside the inlet and outlet pipes on the vacuum pump. Inverting, as mentioned above, is a real possibility. It could be that something else loosened up, too - even now a problem with the vac switch.

In a healthy system, it takes somewhere around 30 seconds or so to build full vacuum.

Thank you I will power it up and see if it stop and does not cycle on after 10 minutes or so.

99% of the time it’s the duckbills. Spec is 1 min to make the vac.
(Mine takes 40 sec.)
Also should hold it for 3 hours without the pump kicking on.
(Mine looses no vac over a week+)
