Wondering what cleaners most people like to use to keep the cushions nice and white? I'm not used to such white cushions.
Also, other than putting full canvas enclosure up every time i put it back on the mooring, has anyone used any everyday items to quickly cover the helm and seats. Trying not to spend a fortune and usually dont' have a lot of time at the end of a long day out, but definitely need to do something to protect from the sun.
Thanks for any input.

So you mean cockpit upholstery, not cabin?

I use Jax Wax Vinyl & Leather cleaner. I have to get in online, but it works better than anything else I've used.

regular 'Windex' or 'Windex Multi Surfaces' work well for me for just about all general cleaning as long as the dirt/stain is not severe.....followed by vinyl conditioner on the vinyl every few weeks after a thorough cleaning.....

Though time consuming, full enclosure or cockpit cover are the best protection against sun, rain, and dirt if you'll be away from the boat for any length of time. Otherwise, if you or someone you know is crafty, you could consider making custom seat covers from Sunbrella or other weather-resistant material, being sure to have snaps/drawstrings/similar so they stay put in wind/storms.

soft bristle drill brush with starbrite vinyl cleaner does the trick for us. It gets into the texture of the vinyl nicely and always loosens up all the dirt to wipe down.

I have been using the Shurhold products for the past couple years, and they seem to keep everything looking ship shape!

Serious Shine is a quick detailer spray that's good on glass, clear vinyl, all the seating, helm instruments, it cleans and shines. I use this more than anything else, and it won't take wax off like some household chemicals will.
SMC (Serious Marine Cleaner) is a general purpose spray cleaner, gets out a lot of stuff on the white seats for sure, but it's also good for cleaning the head area, kitchen sink, stuff like that. It'll take a lot of stains out in the bilge too. It's effective where you sometimes feel like you need bleach, but that's so caustic that it sometimes gets the stain out but over time will damage the material you're cleaning.
I also use their Brite Wash for general cleaning topside.

What is a drill brush? I see a few posts using that name.

The canvas goes up every time we leave the boat for more than a day.

It only takes a few minutes to do and will make the vinyl last for years. The PO of my boat always had the canvas in place and the vinyl looks almost new after 20 years. A few minutes now will save thousands in the long run as replacing vinyl isn't cheap.

thanks, seriously I never heard of that before, even googled it prior...
I know the 3M decal wheel but that may be too harsh on the seats.

I have used 303 multipurpose cleaner on my upholstery followed by Aerospace protectant for over 10 years. My upholstery looks brand new. I also cover my cockpit whenever I'm not on it overnight. I'm in a covered marina and the spiders can makes mess in just a few hours

My 2018 240Sundeck has a grayish cloth like trim around the white vinyl seats. Anyone have experience with that? Pic attached. They look great now but concerned about later.

I always put all the canvas back on when leaving the boat. I live in nj and the seagulls poop on everything. This year i put 2 bird b gone spinning things on with sand bags. 1 on arch and 1 on bow window port. Not a poop to be seen all year

I just wipe seats down with a damp towel. Occasionally use a little Fantastic for more stubborn dirt. Seats look like new, however,we are pretty easy on our stuff. Some special cleaning products can make things worse.

Now you did it! Another thing I’ve got to buy and try.
Lol! I tried some of their detail products a few years ago on my cars. Decent stuff, but in the end I went back to getting most of the day to day stuff from Adam’s.

Old thread, but can’t get enough of detailing type threads.

I generally just use a damp cloth, and always put the cover up when we leave the boat.
For deeper dirt I’ve been using my new favorite all purpose cleaner. LA’s Totally Awesome Cleaner which is cheap and available at Home Depot for less than on Amazon. It’s a concentrate that I use about 50/50 with water in a Spray bottle. Spray it on and wipe down with a damp terry cloth rag. Easy Peasy!
BTW: Works great on all kinds of stuff including the wheels and barrels of the wheels on cars.
Once the seats are clean I use 303 Protectant on them to keep them looking good.
On my 3rd season with this boat. I knew when I bought it that I had to redo the cockpit vinyl, but although old, it came clean enough with the LA’s that it looks presentable and I keep telling myself I can get one more season out of it.
