Dale - MAsterfab to the rescue. My 5e after working great for 5 years developed some gremlins. For the past year and a half i have had multiple issues from not starting, stalling to overheating. Multiple local mechanics tried to resolve the issue [no one wants to work on Kohler gas generators anymore], especially in the boat, so i had it pulled at the end of last season and brought it to Dale [MasterFab]. He quickly identified the issue and asked if i wanted it just fixed, partial restoration, or full rebuild. I opted for the partial restore. As you can see, and know from his previous posts and all of the other folks he helped along the way including a total restore of his old searay, tore the generator apart and restored it "likenew".
The man has hands of gold. We miss him on this site as he moved on to a bigger boat, he still checks in and i am sure available to help others with his magic!

Wow, I've been away too long. Life just seems to have a way of getting "backed up" and there's never enough time.

I'm currently in the midst of a host of maintenance and upgrades to the 500, including completely rebuilt heat exchangers, oil coolers, charge air coolers, engine room lighting, engine room changes to enhance serviceability, and all new instrumentation and electronics. I'll be posting all that stuff on the 500 blog soon, since that's another thing I've been neglecting....

Ron, I'm very happy the generator is back in action. That was a fun project. I have a few more pics of the completed restoration here:

Dale

You need to get the new blog up. Your 340 blog was invaluable when I bought my 340. I will need the same when I upgrade to a cruisers express 50 :)
