Good morning!

Just checking to see if anyone has come across a similar scenario than what I am currently experiencing.

I have a 2003 320 Sundancer and my Kohler generator appears to be leaking oil. For the past week, oil is collecting in the bottom tray of the generator. However, oil level appears to be fine. There is no visible evidence of where the oil is coming from from the front view of the generator. Yet, each time I absorb the oil, the next day, oil is back in the tray.

Any ideas where there may be other places (back of generator) that oil could be pooling from?

Otherwise, the generator is running fine.

Happy Friday all and thanks in advance for clues.

My generator shut down recently because of low oil. The oil drain had vibrated open enough to leak. Closed it, topped it off, and it's all good again.

My Kohler 5E generator developed a leak from the end seal of the crankshaft behind the flywheel (thankfully). I needed to remove the flywheel with a puller and replace the oil seal. Overall not a bad job that I was able to do in the boat (have a 400EC with the generator on the centerline aft in the boat with space to sit in front of it). Had to disconnect water line and spin the generator to get access but it worked.

Take a look at the bottom of the flywheel to see if you have oil dripping there or if it appears to be splashing off the flywheel as it spins.

I have a length of clear hose that I leave attached to the oil drain fitting that I use for oil changes for this reason. I snake the hose around a nearby support to keep the end above the top of the generator so it can't drain out if the valve gets opened. (It would still likely leak under pressure if the generator is running, but will prevent a spill when generator is off)

Good idea, I will do that as well.
