KVH Error

These days, getting a marine electronics guy to your boat around us is harder to find than the proverbial Hen's Teeth, so I am asking if anyone has any access to KVH Troubleshooting and/or Parts.

I am getting
ERROR: ANTENNA LNB POWER

Any help greatly appreciated.

I typically get that error when I forget to switch my A/B switch. If that's not the case, you have a 120V power inserter that feeds the DirecTv LNB, check to see if it came unplugged, died, or the GFCI tripped.

I'm speaking based on experience with HD7

No problem. Also, if I remember correctly, the power inserter has a green power indicator. I had one fail. I think the land based LNB requires a 21V power inserter and the KVH requires something like 28V. For $20/ea. on amazon, I bought a spare of each. Not gonna miss a ball game over a $20 part.

Tried the ab switch but that didn't help.
Found what I think is the power supply and noticed the green led was flashing inconsistently.
Could this be the issue?

No problem, fingers crossed that it's something easy like the power inserter. It would be a pain in the butt if it's a coax cable or LNB.

Pretty easy to check continuity of the coaxial if you can get to each end.

When I first tried calling all they told me was I had to get in touch with an authorized service provider and gave me a name and number for one in my area.

I have never had that happen, they have always been very polite and patient with a non
IT type of guy.

KVH helped get me switched over from Dish to Direct with great customer service. Puzzles me too.

Hate to pile on but they were very helpful when I called as well. And when quizzing them at FLIBS. Maybe they just don't like New Yorkers...
