KVH Error

Hate to pile on but they were very helpful when I called as well. And when quizzing them at FLIBS. Maybe they just don't like New Yorkers...;)
Can't be because they were very helpful to me as well! They even spoke with DirecTv when I was activating my M1 system after I installed it!

You guys are really starting to give me a complex

I had great Tech support and warranty service. Not trying to give you a complex but they definitely deserve a shout out.

Update
New power supply, and now the light doesn't even light up on the power supply.
I will be calling the KVH customer service and see what they say. Looking forward to the awesome customer service

Must be a New York thing, I had same experience a while back when I lived in Stony Brook.

WOW!
I take it back.
Just got off the phone with KVH Tech Support and they sent me a document to help me continue to troubleshoot the error and said they will sell me the parts I need or I could send the whole unit back to them and they will fix for a flat fee $2400!! ouch!)

But to be fair, he saw the record of my original call and there was essentially no notes in it. Must have been someone's bad day.

Crazy, we have an M1 unit that cost $2100. new for everything but the receiver. which was only something like $125.

List Price on the HD7 was something like $12,500

Seems like a fair offer, especially since they don't even market the HD7 any longer (recently replaced by UHD7).

Let us know how it works out.

will do.
They said they would basically sell me the parts I needed. Figure I am going to try to go that route.

I take it all back, with 1 somewhat significant caveat.

KVH sent me a voltage document for the HD7
attached here

After testing the voltages and another call to KVH Tech Support they suggest my SWM 8 Module was bad. When asked if they would sell me a new one, the gentleman on the line said he couldn't but would pass me to sales who would.
While waiting for sales to pick me up, I googled the part number and the first thing i found was a module fo $109. Thinking to myself, cool, i have a frame of reference and as long as it is in spitting distance, happy to support KVH.
The woman on sales line picks up and introduces herself, says she has the part number i need and it will be $850 and they have it in stock......
Me: "Well, that is probably a bit more than I was expecting. Let me call you back"

After 2 more clicks, a new SWM Module and an extra power supply was ordered for $50 plus tax and $10 shipping. Got it in 2 days. Installed and we are good!

So, i give props to KVH Tech support and take back what I said earlier.
But I could not pay them an extra $800 for a Direct TV part that is available all over the internet.
Feel free to tell me I'm wrong.
Thanks to all for encouraging me to fix this.

Shaps
