Heading up later today or a much needed getaway.

We will be staying half way between Vermilion and Huron on be South shore of Lake Erie.

After 5 years with no boat and 4 years since are last trip, hoping the weather is good and the boat performs and we can create some epic memories.

Will any one be in the area between 8/7 and 8/21?

Fair warning. I’ve got 3 very rambunctious kiddos and one baby. Luckily the better half will be with us as well to assist with chaos avoidance!

All goes well planning to get at least one day on Kelly’s Island. One day on South Bass Island, a few trips to Sandusky Bay to hang out at the sand bar….If it’s still there.

When I was a kid there was a McDonalds in the back of a corner of the bay due south from Cedar Point and east of Sandusky. They had several boat docks and you could pull up and walk i and get lunch. We did this trip more than I can even remember.

Would love to create some memories like that for my kids. Other than Quaker Steak and Lube (Vermilion River), the restaurants on the islands and yacht clubs….anyone know of an place that is water accessible?

Has anyone ever gone up the Sandusky Bay far enough to reach the turnpike? I’m told you can head up the river for miles and miles. We never went much past the route 2 bridge. That’s probably a trip better run with multiple boats in case there’s any issues.

Whelp that’s all for now.

The sand bar is still there, however it has definitely moved. Stay in the channel or hang super tight to it as it(sand bar) is almost to the channel now.

I'm not sure about docks at McDonald's, haven't paid attention, but you can dock at the Lube just past McD's.

It's going to be hot. I'd definitely take the kids to the beach(I prefer East Harbor State Park's beach which is actually near the West Harbor entrance), no access from East Harbor but you could pull in there and go to Cleat's. Take them to the water park at CP to cool off as well.

Check out the Hidden Beach Bar too while/if you're in that neck of the woods.

Are you keeping your boat at a marina or keeping it on a trailer and dropping it in every day?

I'm always in the area so give me a shout if you need something.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback.

We’ll be keeping it on the trailer and launching from the Huron River most of the time. If Lake is dicey and we feel like going to the bay we usually put in at Dempsey Access by Johnson Island.

Anyone here own this beauty that was docked on the Huron River yesterday morning.

Weather has been spotty but, trying to make the best of it.

This guy was getting pulled out at the ramp. At least one of the props had seized up and wouldn’t spin.

Told my wife, “even the big, new, expensive ones break down too!”
