Considering a trip to Powell this summer from CO. I'm hoping someone can help us out. Im wondering which marina would be our best bet, as i mentioned we will be coming from Colorado so not really wanting to drive clear to the AZ part of the lake. My folks are coming along with their RV so ideally we would like to find a marina that has overnight boat slip rental (with elec/water) thats relatively close to a campground. We envision cruising the lake and canyons during the day and the evening slip the boat and lounge ashore. My folks would sleep in their RV and us in the boat. I have searched online and it seems hard to find what we are looking for. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Here is a great place to look for all info about Lake Powell. http://www.wayneswords.com/ We stay at Wahweap when we don't stay up lake at a beach. We have had friends come and stay at the camp ground there while we stayed on the boat in the slip and just went out for the day, it is a nice camp ground with full hook ups, bathrooms and showers. http://www.lakepowell.com/stay/rv-parks--campgrounds/wahweap-.aspx I don't have much info on the north lake facilities but you can find out more on wayneswords. Here is the the like for the marinas http://www.lakepowellmarinas.com/ and other Lake Powell stuff. http://www.lakepowellnow.com/

Awesome! Thanks a bunch...I'm off to research.

As TMSRB has said, Wahweap is pretty sweet for doing both Docking and camping. Though the RV will be up on the hill, and its quite a hike from the marina to the top of the hill. Keep a car parked down at the lower parking area, it will make shuttling easier. I haven't been to Bullfrog enough to make any recommendations. The last time I made it to Hite Marina was a major disappointment. Only downside to Wahweap is you will be coming down to the AZ side.

Sounds good, might have to throw the rhino in the back of the truck. I appreciate the input

Can't help with Powell - but where do you boat in Colorado? Not many of us from Colorado on this forum.

Hi MileHi,
At current lake levels at Powell Its going to be tough to find what your looking for, The campground at Bullfrog is roughly 1.5 miles from the marina. Maybe look at Flaming Gorge? Its a pull from Rifle to Meeker and another from Vernal over the Uinta's but the weather is nicer and Cedar springs campground is within walking distance from the marina. I'm assuming your coming from the eastern slope.

Faster to put in at Bull Frog and drive boat up channel. I was there last year and had no trouble finding sand for the boat
