Lake Saint Clair Peeps

Millers at Belle Maer.... He does very good work. He did my front polycarbonate.. I had him quote my aft canvas this winter and he was $500 more than a guy I ended up using in Algonac... That's exactly what I got a cheaper aft canvas.... I am not happy with it at all and regret not going to Dennis.... If you appreciate craftsmanship go to Dennis.... Go early as he will have a serious backlog right now

Oh no! Lol! Not sure if you have the answer but I'm wondering if I can add from the sunshade off the back of the arch or if it would connect right up to the arch? I was mentally guessing in the 3 grandish area..more than that short people can sit on the back bench with the fastback on..haha
Where about are you in the marina Greatlakes?

That was gonna be another question would this be a better winter time job..maybe less busy or timing doesn't really matter in the canvas situation

Not sure what my 410 buddy paid but last year my dock nieghbor had a complete job done on his 320. Eisenglass and full camper with screens, etc. Top notch! Paid $7000

I’m at amber 158

I always make sure I get to Dennis by February/March. He’s probably 8-10 weeks out right now but you’d have to call. I was not happy with Dockside canvas on South River. Very rude lady on phone, acted like I was wasting her time and annoying her

Ok I drive by dockside all the time and was wondering and I just seen a new one in St.Clair shores on Jefferson just pop up right by Jefferson beach..but that's why I asked looking for opinions

The previous owner had Dennis do my canvas and I can say it's the nicest canvas job I've seen. When it's time for new canvas I'll be using Dennis. The wife and I were out on the lake tooling around from Metro down to Jefferson Beach Sunday morning during all the rain and not one drop of water came in. I think the one you're talking about on Jefferson is Lakeside. I had them do my cockpit flooring last year and they did an awesome job. They could communicate with the customer better. It took a few phone calls just to get a call back when we had questions about the install. I would use them again though. They really did do a good job and added some special touches that I liked a lot.

Lakeshore that's it! Just saw the sign out front..btw EZ you have a beautiful boat I stored close to you at Beacon for the winter
Thanks Gasket, I appreciate that. Which boat was yours and what SeaRay do you have in the works?

Lakeside's work must be good - they've been rude to the public for over two decades. I walked out of there in the late 90's after they snapped at me while waiting for attention at their counter. Since they're still in-business, I just assumed they had improved... I'll never darken their door again.

I took the same broken zipper to Dennis a few minutes later. He not only fixed it, but he refused to charge me. He said, "your canvas doesn't have much life left. I want you to consider us when you're ready to replace it". When that time came, the attention to detail was so impressive that I knew he'd do the next replacement as well.

That didn't go as well. The work was fine, but the attention to detail was gone and the design lacked forethought. On the first installation, all the zippers extended beyond the panel. Drunks could assemble my eisen panels in the dark in a windstorm in only seconds. That didn't happen the next time - they're just to the edge, and often the zipper is installed in a direction that makes it even harder. I'm considering hiring The Rock to help me zip the panels without taking 15 minutes and needing 417 cuss words.

(so, don't assume attention to detail is included - explain the details and expectations at the onset)

I am in the process of getting a quote for repair to cockpit canvas, a full set of just screens for the cockpit. I have been going to the same guy for over 6 years now, have had him do a complete new bridge enclosure and new cockpit bolsters in my last boat (1991 Silverton 37C). I have been trying to get this job done since February 2017 and he has some of my money already.
Yesterday, after many broken promises on when my job would be complete (not to mention the multiple promises I got that it would be done before I launched), I called another guy who a few people in my marina have used lately. His work seems good and I am eager to get his pricing. I am hopeful I can pull the trigger with the new guy and just get my money back from the original guy who was to do the work.
Fun with canvas guys!!!!!!!

+1 for Dennis. He's the best!

"If you are asking about area around Marine City, no wake law on books, but not marked with bouys or signs. We are not enforceing for that reason." Lt Reid

That's priceless...so basically a law on the books no one wants to enforce.... So there is no funding for buoy's and or installation? :) .. Let's hope that doesn't change
