Lake Saint Clair Peeps

Thanks Brent, I've been wanting to go to MacRay for a long time. We are definitely going to have to set something up here so all the CSR LSC Peeps can meet up in one of the bay and put faces with names. Maybe after the holidays I can get something started for next season. I think it would be neat and try to get a bunch of us to convoy down to Cedar Point. We'll see. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas....
We were considering going back to PIB, Cedar Point and possibly Cleveland next summer for our vacation / trip, but now some boating friends are asking if we would like to go north again, up to Port Austin and Caseville. I really like getting up in the blue waters of Lake Huron, thinking of taking some of my scuba gear to hit some of the hot spots.
We got new owners at our marina last year. I really appreciate their excitement about the marina and the things they have started to do around the place. We have talked about changing marinas and the options we were talking about were Algonac Harbor Club or MacRay. I just don't think I would get the slip I would want to have at MacRay, I have stayed on Evergreen but I assume there is a very long waiting list for those slips.
It is just hard to consider leaving our current home port, we have many dear friends there and we really like the location on the lake as there are multiple dinghy spots (3 close by bars, The Raft, Island Grill, Deckers) and if we cut through the Sni, we make it down to Browns and The Moot in about 30 to 35 minutes. Sometimes we hit up Club Capri in the dinghies too, but that one requires a little more beer.

I believe we are going North this year as well on my buddy's 400DB. Port Austin, Tawas, and then across to Bayfield and Grand Bend in Canada.

We put our name and a $500 deposit down for MacRay in Sept. and got the call this week.

Talk about Club Capri, My buddy with the 47 Excalibur keeps it at Sassy's in the winter. On the way to Sassy's this year we took his 47 into Club Capri. It was a little nerve racking and I was glad we we're on his boat.

I'm at the bays basically every weekend anyways so we're in. It's a long ride to LSC for Roller (Seth) from Cedar Point though... We're heading there July 13th ish

We're at the Marina either Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday. Joe, I think we'll be drinking a lot of beer in that timeframe. My friends get the beer in the dockbox :D

Justin just mentioned that you might have a trip to CP planned...

Welcome Joe, it's about time! I think you're going to love all the action that takes place at that end of the lake. Heck, you can come out for the weekend and just have a ball dingying around out in front. Plus all the canals behind the marinas. Like others have mentioned, floating docks, free pump out, restaurant, dock boxes, picnic tables. Plus MR's puts on lots of activities. DJ's at pool side, bands in the parking lot and the big night - 4th of July fireworks! Also, the gas dock and store they have there is really nice. They actually have a fairly large selection of marine products and they sell for the same price as you can get at West Marine. And good beer prices. Gas was $3.99 last year if you bought Monday - Thursday. I'm guessing BCM was more? Hopefully we'll talk soon.

Thanks Midexp, I've been checking out MacRay's FB page the last couple days and didn't realize how much stuff they do. $3.99 gas, that's what I was paying at Belfour's :D. Beacon was in the mid 4's last year. I'm even more excited for summer to get here now.

How's everyone enjoying the winter we've been having? It's turning colder now but I think end of October and early November was worse than December and January so far. It's kinda making the winter go by faster to me. We have a 10 day cruise booked so that will help make winter a little shorter also. I hope everyone's winter goes by quickly so we can get the boats back in the water. Can't wait to tie up the boat in our new slip at MacRay.

EZ I agree I feel like the winter is moving along faster than normal. Just waiting for the shoe to drop with the weather.
We’re heading to St Johns in a few weeks so that’ll help as well. Little mental hurdles along the way.
There’s not even ice on the lake or at the marina. Looks weird but I’ll take it.

I’m ready now!

I love St. John. Our cruise is taking us to islands we haven't been to yet. Aruba, Curacao, Colon Panama (through the locks to Gatun Lake and back out)and then to Limon Costa Rico. It gets back to Fort Lauderdale on a Wednesday so I told the wife "there's no need to go back to work on a Thursday, lets get a hotel in Pompano for a few days and fly back on Saturday". She didn't even argue with me. :D

Nice. I booked one for 2020, which is somehow serving to make this winter feel longer! lol I'm bored with the east/west Carib, so I'm also doing new islands including Aruba and Curacao. I'll be interested to hear your impressions.

I haven't done anything with the boats yet. That doesn't make the winter go by faster, but I'm sure spring will be short!

I'm bored with the east/west Carib,

Yeah Roller we were also. We usually do a cruise every year it seems like. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been to St. Thomas. Aruba and Panama Canal have always been on our list so while searching for cruises this year the wife found this cruise (Holland America) that goes to both places so I said book it. I hope 10 days isn't to long though. As nice as they are I'm usually ready to get off the boat after a 7 day. When we get back I'll try and let you know what excursions we took and fill you in on them. Maybe a few pics also.
Great Lakes, I meant to ask you are you renting a house on St. Johns or staying at a resort? I've only went there from a cruise stop in St. Thomas and went over on a small boat as an excursion.

EZ, we got a 12 person house with pool. We’re going with our good friends and their kids for 10 days. (Roller, these are the same friends that you met in CP) It’s our first time but they go there every year. Really looking forward to it. We’re renting a 32’ whaler to take us around too.

Side note: I’ve never been on a cruise. Lol

If you make it all the way over to Tortola be sure to go to the Virgin Gorda.
Edit: Virgin Gorda was one of our excursions when we went to Tortola. Virgin Gorda is a little farther than Tortola. I meant go to "The Baths"

I've only taken 7-day cruises, and aside from a kid-packed RCL ship, Day 6 is always sad as the end nears. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy 2 extra days...

Sounds awesome! I first read that as "10 kids" - that would be less awesome. :D
