Through the week i decided to tackle changing out the Bilge pump box for the rear A/C this was not that bad to accomplish.
After completing that task i went out for a brief run under 30 mins when I arrived back i quick look in the engine room to find a lot of dirty black oil.
Engines Merc 7.4L 340HP and BW velvet drive trannsmissions and I believe 1.52 to 1
So my First thoughts were what did i knock loose while i was down there thrashing around trying to get this box out and how can i pin point where this all came from.
First plan vacuum out all the oil/water and start wiping down everything so its dry, restart engines in neutral and see what happens, and nothing no leaking at all so I climb back down and start looking close up thinking maybe dipstick tube is knocked out of the pan, nope all good there but found a Crack in the port bell housing and its a a fair size possible 3.5 inches long and hair line thick.
Also I found out that that the Trans dipstick does actually tighten down mine were just pushed back in, Are these hydraulic Damper plates or would there be fluid in Bell housing.
So feeling frustrated I leave the boat and drive 1.5 hours home only to realize I never check the engine oil level, tranny oil level nothing which could have led me to a better direction in resolving the issue.
Any thoughts out side checking the fluid levels on everything and getting a quote from marina to fix bell housing, would love to have an idea of what I am talking about before having them over to look at the boat
Lots of details i should have before asking just wanted some info before i return to invesitgate
thanks Jamie
