Like many boats I have been on the bilge lighting on my boat could use a significant upgrade. The current lights are a pair of Perko stern type navigation lights, you can locate the engines after dark but cannot even tell if the lights are on during the daylight. With all the new LED lighting out there is there anything you have done to really boost the lighting in your bilge? Any recommended fixtures?

Can't find the exact ones on Amazon now, however I added 10 12v 60 watt LED flood lights with 3k color in my bilge last winter. They have white frames, and were sold in 5 packs at the time.

I worry a little about the ignition protection of a fixture that claims to be "for marine boats", but at the same time an upgrade is decades overdue. I hate my engine room lighting!

Are those connected to the 12V system or battery operated? Cant tell from quick glance... I assume hard wired in.

Hard wired into ER switch at the helm... Along with these.

understood with gas, but for us not so much...

The OP's boat is also a gasser though. Poor translation doesn't necessarily mean poor quality. I'm just saying I'd feel better if I actually saw the words "ignition protected."

The ones I bought claimed they were ignition protected, along with a whole list of other things.

Also whenever LED's are installed they need to be checked to be certain they do not interfere with the VHF as the CG suggests.

I have used Lumitec on 3 boats. Works fantastic but the prices are significant. 2 boats have Ibiza and one Nevis. They are similar depending on your space.

I can post pics if you want tomorrow.

Years ago I put two of these 28" strips in my 268 - it had no existing bilge lighting and wiring had to be ran to the helm. Put a bead of 5200 on the back of them and held in place with tape as the 5200 cured. They put out A LOT of light.

Great thread, as the factory bilge lighting in my 358 could use help. I'll add 3 of these and it'll be better than daylight in there.
