Lights on the Arch

Well a lot has changed in electrical circuits since 1972 soooo....

Kidding, of course. Good on the meter, I'm interested to see what happens with the further troubleshooting. I'd see what your getting at the bare wire leads when flipping the switch and then with the new light attached. Somehow I've become emotionally invested in this project! I need to see the issue resolved!!

Update - didn't get there last night. Mowed the lawn and wow, other little projects I hadn't planned on came up. Tonight for sure. However, since you are getting so emotionally invested, lol, I'll come down and we can work on it. Now I am LMBO. I'll keep you posted so you can sleep at night.

Any other lights on that circuit? I've found that you can't mix incandescent and LED lights. I'd suggest taking the new lights and manually holding the wires against a battery. If they work you know its something to do with the actual circuit.

I did that the other day. Lights work well. I agree it is the circuit. Finding it is tough part but I will. I have all weekend, next week, month, fall, winter........I hope someone walks by and says, Flip the switch. LOL.

Update from the Bush River - Lights On The Arch.........
So, Tuesday night I took about 10 people from work out on the boat for Happy Hour. Nothing big just out for a nice 6 to 10 MPH ride, listening to music, great conversation and laughs. We were out for about 2 hours or so. So now back at the marina.....
I am putting the boat in the slip and I look down at the panel of switches and it is at that moment I realize I have been turning on the wrong switch for the lights on the top of the Arch. After everyone departed I went and got one of the LED flood lights and hooked it to the wires coming out of the top of the Arch. Lo and Behold - It lite up.
Yes, I am such an idiot. Just thought I would let you all know. Not that I am an idiot but that I figured out the Light issue.
Joe the Electrician....not!!!

Joe, I think the TRULY smart people in this world have made mistakes like this at least once. Can you tell what I'm getting at? :smt001

I sure can. It made me laugh when I realized it and the group knew that I had been working on the lights. I had told them I had watched a dozen videos about how to use a multimeter and installing new LED lights. But I never give up in trying and sometimes I just keep thinking through until I get it, someone walks by and says this is how or I have a huge brain explosion and see how to do it.

Just yesterday, I was servicing an older, 10HP Merc (tiller handle) and was trying to move the little shift lever on the port side of the engine. It's stuck - won't move. So I'm looking at connections, rod assemblies, checking under the hood, etc, etc, etc. And then the person standing next to me says "Do you need to move the throttle handle to the 'shift' position"? Quietly, and with a stupid grin on my face, I say "Ummmm. Yeah, thank you".

So, yes, I'm truly smart, too! :smt001 Or, at least, using the criteria of this conversation I am!

Classic!

Glad you got it "fixed" though!!

we all have a brain issue now and then.. lol.. at least u admitted it. been there done that
