I have just moved over From Regal to Sea Ray. I really enjoyed the Regal club site and hope this site will be just as much fun. One thing I have noticed on this site is you don't seem to have a facility for a live chat. On the Regal site we had a live chat every Monday evening at 8:00PM EST. It was great fun we even organized a rendezvous with people on the chat. Just wondering if is possible to have that kind of live chat on the Sea Ray site?

Its always possible, but I have never seen it work. Interesting that it worked for you guys/gals. If you have a link to your other site I'll check it out, maybe sit in on a chat one night to see how it works. I know some other sites I have been on have done it, but it always fizzled out after a few weeks. Plus none of the chatter is saved, so if there is anything said of any value it gets lost.

in my experience when you start a live chat people tend to stray away from the forum and it kills the community growth as a whole... new users see a slower forum, current users dont want to always sit on chat, so it just degrades from there.

We really had a good chat going on the Regal site. We organized a rendezvous via the chat it was great.

I am not a fan of live chat. Some people exchange yahoo messanger ids and add as friends so they can see when each other is online. You will notice that sometimes people are on here so much that topics become like live chat. If you had a live chat feature it would take away from the board. Just my humble opinion.

Live chat is great and several boards I belong too for other purposes have slick systesm that allow members to open up rooms to discuss their own common stuff. I like it and it never replaces the board .. Chat tends give the it interpersonal dimension that is missing in in community boards.

I don't think you can really stiffile the idea just be the focal point to make it possible.

I fact I've been thinking of opening a Sea Ray Chat site, but I'd rather see it here.
