sometimes I look at this web site to monitor the water temp of LKN and compare it to my temp sensor on my boat.....it currently shows the water temp as being 92*.....that seems high for this time of year....is this the correct current water temp?.....just curious if there may be a problem with this site....

I'm not in your neck of the woods anymore, but I doubt it. Looks like the site isn't updating every 15 min as advertised; time stamp on water temp image is 8/31, 11:56:58.

(At that time we had temp of 88 in our area, after recent rain cooled us a bit, so 92 sounds reasonable if you'd had similar or warmer conditions.)

Yeah I use the same site, it usually pretty accurate, but doesn't look like it has updated recently. Seems I read somewhere that that is taken somewhere on Stumpy Creek (above HWY 150). I think the lake is a little cooler now. We get a little later in the month and have a night or two in the low 50's / upper 40's and it will cool off quick.

On another note regarding water temp, my depth gauge is starting to act up - has some funny black looking goo that is seeping out of the transducer (it a transom mount). Think I might replace the whole thing with one that displays water temp also.

As a kid on the boats with my father I used to always ask "How deep is it?" and "How cold is it?" He would always answer "Doesn't matter if it's over your head" and "You'll find out when you jump in". On that little mountain lake it was 50'+ everywhere everywhere and the water never got much above 80deg. Anyhow, still like to know how deep and and how cold!

Yeah, that 92 degrees has been on there since late August.

i sent an email to the web master for the site about the water temp not updating. He/she said a squirrel has chewed through a cable and it will be replaced soon.

85 this morning at LKN. Thanks Cliff for prompting them to get this fixed.

Water temp shows 49. Tonight supposed to be 11. Heaters are running. Will go up tomorrow to "check on the boat" aka some alone time!

I have a thermometer in my engine room that I can monitor from my phone.....right now the ER temp is 43*.....the bilge heater comes on at 40*.....I have covers on the ER vents.......just shows you how the water temp affects the ER temp when the boat is in the water.....we plan to stay on the boat this WE....looks like the high will be around 60*.......
