Lofrans progress 1 finger kit

I am planning to go to all chain but in the meantime i just put some pressure on the finger when the chain/rode splice comes through and it works. Maybe not recommended do to the danger and only good from the foot pedals but it works for me and I have 9 other fingers if something goes wrong.

good ole 'redundancy'.............God was planning ahead on the design of the human body.....

I use my boat hook to push up against the winch finger and that seems to work pretty good. That keeps my fingers in a safe position and I don't have to bend over with my bad spine. My spring, finger and associated parts should be installed sometime next week.

I did the same until I went with all chain. Scary stuff when you are single handing in relatively narrow river anchorages. The things I gotta do to get away from those human things....

I have the Lofrans progress 1 tension fingers. I am selling them as a kit with one flange style button head cap screw and one nylon washer. The price is $60 for the kit which includes shipping to the lower 48 states. I prefer to be paid through PayPal.

Has anyone had experience with the finger post shearing off? Mine did and my repairman indicates I have oxidation on the base plate and may need a new one. Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Shabuba, yes, they shear off all the time. That is why folks need to buy new fingers. If you take out the broken post, you can replace with a bolt like I did or better yet buy one of Dixon's repair kits (above). Either way it's not that big of a pain. Until Mike built new fingers, this was a serious headache. I Highly, Highly doubt you need a new baseplate. Post a picture and we can help you diagnose. This is also something that is very easy to replace so don't be afraid to DIY. Or at worst your repairman should charge you for 15 minutes of time.

Yup. Mine just sheared off too. Gonna have to buy one from dixon. Do they come with spring

Curious if this fixed your issue?
Thank you

Chris, if there is good tension it absolutely fixes the issue of having the rode get jammed up especially at the splice between chain and rode. I fixed mine having problems by simply buying a new spring. I've seen a few folks have the bolt/stud bent which will cause the same issue. You can replace the stud and spring and be back in business cheap. Hope that helps.

Can anyone tell me what year this is?

so I can get the right spring

Chris, it looks like you have the new finger, I would say you have a 9mm stud. You need the newer spring, not the one in post #52. The spring is available from Imtra I believe for about $20 something. They can tell you by the PG 011907 serial number too. They were very responsive when I talked with them. Since you have the newer finger, all you should need is a new spring and you should be good to go...

So this happened to me yesterday, how do you get the sheared stud out? My daughter caught the finger, nut and washer in mid air as it was about to fly off the boat....
