It also shrunk.

2008 and older is 26’4” LOA

The newer model 240’s are closer to 24’

Catalyst’s appeared on the engines sometime after 2009?

Did the swim platform shrink or the actual boat? I'm guessing the price came down too since the boat got shorter (ha)! Knowing the catalyst was added to the 2009+ engines is a huge help. We are considering a 2008 or 2013. Was there ant other differences beside that?

The newer models are actually a little smaller. They include the swim platform in LOA.

The older models were a 24’6” boat with a 22” swim platform bolted on. This gave a 26’4” LOA.

There have been issues with oxygen sensors fouling on catalyst equipped engines, search around here and you can read about it.

Go check them both out and see what works for you.

Price, condition, maintenance history, take all these things into consideration.

Thanks Expos4. As a former owner of a Crownline 202BR, there were a few things that I liked with the 13 models of the 240's (from a layout perspective- mainly the back rear facing sun pad) but didnt know if there was anything else I should know about - thanks!

Funny, I moved up from a Crownline 206LS Bowrider to my current 2007 240 Sundeck.

The extra 5-6 feet made a world of difference.

What a small world! How do you like the quality of your sundeck compared to the crownline?

I love the 2007-08 sundecks with their layouts. Did not like the newer layouts as you lose a lot of room in interior space. Just personal preference.

The the biggest change with the new models of Sundeck,
They switched to a rear facing seat at the swim platform.
The bow is a little more squared off.
And they got smaller overall.

You have to compare specs, not model numbers to compare apples to apples. Marketing likes to play games with the model numbers year to year.

The old 240 is closer in size to the new 260/270 Check the specs, length over all is good start, but also gas tank size. The old 240 has a 65 gallon tank, and tons of storage in the floor lockers. The new 240 has smaller floor lockers, and only a 50 gallon tank.

As I recall, for a few years the 240 and the 260 were the same boat, except the 260 was available with a big block, and the 240 was not.

I have a good friend with the 2006 270. The interior of the boats is almost identical. Looking at my 2006 sales brochure, the 240 had a bolted on swim platform, 26'4 length. The next model up, the 2006 270, has a molded swim platform, but is only 26'6" (2 inches longer, and has a 2" wider beam) But you could order a big block 496 in the 270

In 2008, in between the old 26' long 240 and the newer 24' 240, was the 230 (24'1"). Only lasted a year before it was renamed 240. The first time I saw the 230SD 2008, I loved how they had introduced the rear facing seat, and removed that badly placed bimini support that went behind the back seat on the older 240. I ordered one that day, and I still have her.

Good looking boat Ausie230SD. We are looking at an '08 240 and a '13 240. I like the interior layout of both of these years (not a huge fan of the wet bar - seems like that takes up seating space). Any stories on which one trailers better?

You will come to really like the wet bar. Being able to wash your hands is well worth the space it takes.

There is plenty of seating on the 2008 240.

Does the extra length of the '08 add a lot of weight and/or make it difficult to tow?

Dry weight for my 2007 is around 4700 lbs. Adding batteries, fuel, water, a trailer and gear puts me closer to 7,000 lbs, maybe more. I’ve never weighed it loaded.

For the twice a year 10 mile tow to the ramp, the Trailblazer does fine, but it’s not on the highway and 30mph on the side roads.

I tow mine with a 3.5L V6 eco boost. Pulled it through virginia and west virginia with no problems.

This is GREAT info! I am planning on towing about 300 miles with my grand cherokee. It has the 3.0 eco diesel rated at 7400# so, it sounds like I should be OK if we decide on the 08...

You’ll be closer to that 7400lb weight than the 4700lb dry weight with a good trailer and whatever gear you have onboard.

Make sure the trailer brakes operate properly and set your tongue weight.

With what I hauled I always figured right at 7500 lbs.

hey chuck1, any idea what the dry weight of your '06 boat / trailer was?
