Hi all, I'm hoping to locate a used dash switch module, starboard side, for my 2005 320DA. My part number is 1718618, and I believe 1810626 is a correct replacement part also (and I would swap the black trim for my wood trim).

I'm aware of the FP marine upgrade, just too pricey for me right now. I've swapped wires with the port side, pulled the computer module out from under the dash and inspected wires, etc. No luck. Last year the module started acting up with random things turning on (anchor) and wrong accessory turning on when I pressed a button. Now nothing is operational, so it's a safety concern with no nav, anchor, horn.

Any tips would be highly appreciated! I am willing to pay for a used on if someone else is doing a swap or something. I've called a few random dealers, nobody has it so far.

Hey all - I see many people viewing the post (thanks!). No suggestions as to where to find a new or used part, which is sort of what I expected. Long shot, but figured I'd ask here!

So, started having some fun with the switch panel, took it apart, borrowed a friend's digital oscilloscope with CAN bus interpreter (saleae logic pro 16 - awesome diagnostic thing)! Sure enough, the system in it's idle state is throwing CAN bus errors. Also there are diagnostic LEDs that are not visible normally, that are not all lighting up during boot, and there seems to be a boot up cycle self test that flashes LEDs, not all flash, so my panel is failing that too! So for sure the panel is bad.

I'm surprised how many boat manufacturers use this CAN bus style switch system, many brands in fact. And most all used the same core components, just customized for each layout and requirements.

Speaking to Blink Marine currently, they may be able to repair, but pricey and long delay, like no boat this summer for me:(

So I may look locally for someone with electronics expertise. I'm sure the heat/cold cycles this panel went through caused bad solder joints, or perhaps pressing the buttons caused slight flex in the circuit board that over time broke some connections.

I bet nobody has reverse-engineered these things, but CAN bus stuff is straight forward, and I could actually run everything from a laptop if I knew the data structures. But not gonna happen, I need to enjoy the boat, not geek out trying to fix it. But the name isn't "Sea++" (C++) for nothing!

OK, so now I'm talking to myself. But someone else hopefully will benefit from this thread. I continued to take the circuit board apart, removing the plastic backing. It was in tough shape and mostly destroyed in removal. It will go back on, but it's got a few cracks and some missing areas now.

But the good news is I started probing around and found a couple of bad ground traces. My clue was that some LEDs did not light during the self test at startup. So I jumped a good one to one of the bad ones and got a good portion of them to work. I'm really hoping that once all LEDs and backlit LEDs light, then the board will function again. I will take it in to my friends at work tomorrow for a more proper jumper solder. A couple folks who looked at the raw digital signals and analog traces think the CAN bus portion is fine, and it's throwing error codes due to some addressable lines not passing the bootup tests (ie the bad ground plane traces).

OK, so I pulled the trigger just now and ordered the fpmarine EIM replacement. Can't wait to get this installed and back on the water! Decided it was not worth trying to fix the existing system, it will eventually break again anyway, not worth the risk. I will post a new thread once install is complete as I may have a couple of used parts available.

Some pics of the install process will surely help others in the future.

Let me know how it goes. This winter looks like I might have to do the same.

Quick update: I received everything from fpmarine on monday. 1hr to unpack, check everything out, read instructions. Decided to do some work that night, 2 more hours to cut up my old dash, remove the EIM in the helm. Today was victory! 4 more hours, ran the primary harness from helm to bilge, installed new breaker panels, plugged everything in, and wow! So even my bilge light works now, it had never worked before, my old starboard control panel was really bad. But now everything seems to be operational again. This is a great product and nice update to the boat. I still have probably 2 hrs left to clean up the wiring and zip tie a few things, and put everything else back together.

You know what they say. Without pics. ...

Day 1 - mentally prep, then prep the dash

Day 2 - remove more stuff, run wires, install new breakers, plug everything together. Works! I still need to fasten the new switch panels to the dash, lots of cleanup, etc. But very happy I'll be back on the water soon.

Hey Sea+++, thanks for talking to yourself. Sure enough I was hunting for info. I got the same issue on my 2005 340. But my port side is out. Any chance you still have your old one????

I have a port side without the trim piece, just the switch section, the trim was badly cracked, I removed the switch section from it, I luckily found a new switch and never got the new trim for this one, you could switch your trim to the switch if interested

Yup, I could. I'd like to buy it. Assuming you believe it works. How much do you want for it?

We just did the same last weekend because of a faulty port side switch panel. Very happy with the FP replacement! I have a functioning starboard panel if anyone is looking.
