Lost our little buddy

A year ago December we had to put our 11-year old Ridgeback to sleep. The loss was unexpected as he had seemed healthy and strong. Cancer got him.
Three months later we were faced with the same decision with our 13-year old female Ridgeback but her hips had gotten so bad she struggled to get up from the floor. However, everything else seemed to be functioning fine. The struggle for me to have to put this beautiful, loving creature put to sleep was killing me.
